Dh FINALLY sat with me and looked at resorts yesterday! I was in heaven. When we looked at pics and info on the these 2 resorts we liked them both.I'm interested to know if one is better than the other?Pros and cons from anyone who has stayed at one or the other pleae? TIA

We have stayed at both and have been happy with both. That being said Pop does have their own busses. Movies is the last off the All Stars on the bus route and sometimes there are not many seats left when the bus comes to do pick ups at Movies. This is one reason that we generally stay at sports, both hotels have pretty good food courts as well. I think the themes at both resorts are awesome.

You know, I think they are pretty much very similar. ASMo is a lot older, so the rooms are more run down. I believe ASMo shares buses the other AS, but I don't know for a fact. And ASMo has less buildings and they are only 3 stories high so the resort feels smaller. They both have a great selection at the food court. There is one thing I love about POP though, you can see Epcot from it. We stayed in the 50's in the Tramp building. We were on the 3rd floor but you could see parts of IllumiNations and Spaceship Earth. I think that's amazing that you can see those things.

POP is much larger and the food court can be really busy especially for breakfast. Also they had the last bus stop at every park....more walking!!

:thumbsup2

I have stayed at both within the past year. I loved them both!!! The rooms are the same size and same basic layout. The beds were equally comfortable. The rooms equally clean and well-kept. Even though the AS Movies hasn't been refurbished as recently as the other All Stars (stayed as All Star Sports in the past year, too), I still loved the room decor and thought it looked as new as anywhere else I've stayed. The busses were fine at both places. The only time we shared busses at ASMovies was the return trip from AK and DTD. We were there over Presidents day weekend, which made for really big crowds, but I only had to stand one time. I could have sat down then, but I didn't really want to squeeze myself between two rather large men. There were some people standing many times, I just lucked out, I guess. I NEVER waited for a bus more than 10 minutes!!!!:thumbsup2 I had similar experiences with bus service at both Pop Century and All Star Sports.
I would happily stay at either one again. I guess my choice would be based at least partly on who was going with me. Both are so fun, but so large and spread out. I, personally, will never stay at a value without paying for the preferred location! I did that one time (All Star Sports) and the walk was too much for my sore feet and tired, aching legs.
Good luck with your decision!! Let me know if you have any more specific questions!

We stayed at ASMo last May and I guess it depends on the time of year. We went during regular season and stayed in the Mighty Duck section.
We pracically had the pool to ourselves and with the busses were able to use ASMu bus if we didn't feel like walking. IMO the walk wasn't even bad and we had 5 kids! Out of six days we had one long wait in the morning for the bus...maybe a 15-20 minute wait. Other than that, if we were coming out of a crowded park we could take ASMu bus back to the resort so we got to choose. Sometimes ASMu line was shorter sometimes longer but usually unless it was night time we got right on the bus consistently.

We stayed at the Movies in Feb. 2004, loved it all. No problems with food, buses, staff. Will stay at the POP in Dec. 2008, just to see someplace else. Everything I have read about it sounds just as good.

I guess my concern is we will be taking our kids for their 1st trip (I'm so excited!!:cool1: ) they will be 8&5. Is ASMo better for that age or would POP be cool for them too? Either place I'm getting a preferred room.

We stayed at Pop in 2006 and loved it! Everyone else...kids and parents...seemed happy too. Nice layout, fun themes, good pools and good buses.

wow, so glad i found this post Ill be staying at Pop in April (first trip), looked the best for our daughter 2 1/2 yrs old with the huge characters i felt she would love that the best.

I have the same questions. We are booked for the ASmo this April. It will be our first visit. I had considered doing POP too. I went with ASmo after much research. For me, the Buzz section would be heaven for DS. I figure that if the buses get backed up, they can let dispatch know, so that will be okay. My SIL has stayed at POP and really liked it too. I think they are similar, but I have read POP does standard soap where ASmo uses mickey shaped soap that isn't the best (solution, just bring your own). The POP according to the UG has a pop up play water area for younger kids and I don't think the ASmo does. I understand both properties (all all stars combined & pop) to be similar in size. The only question is if POP may be 1/2 the size as only phase 1 is open.

I feel for you. Right there with you in the planning. For me, the movies would be much more exciting to DS than POP, although he wouldn't know what he was missing if we stayed at POP, but I would. ha. The things we do for kids! If you do go with POP be careful about what building you pick. I've heard some are right along the highway and noise can be more of an issue. As someone else said, try to do preferred. I think that will keep you central to food & bus stops and by defalt the highway.

I have heard that the ASmo are very soundproof. I wouldn't see why the POP wouldn't be too since it is a newer property.

Hope this has helped some!

I stayed at All Star Movies once and didn't like it at all.
I've stayed at Pop Century three times and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

JMHO - I think kids love the bold decor of all the values! Pick what looks good to you. We have stayed at all the All-Stars and DS9 wants to stay at Pop on our next trip.

DD caught me looking at ASMo and then at POP. She just kept say "Mommy I like the P-O-P place". I suppose I found my answer huh? LOL No law against taking the kids to tour the other places right? LOL
