My DS and I are heading to WDW for a short trip.

I am trying to keep costs down as much as I can.

I am debating between All Star Movies, which we have never stayed at, and Pop Century which was our first ever resort but we haven't been there for over 10 years. The main difference I see is that Pop has the Skyliner. Question is, is the Skyliner worth $130?

Answer: NO!

I've stayed at both. All Stars are much cheaper. Same room layout. Save your money, and spend it on food, another night, etc,

Is that $130/night or for the whole trip? If it's the whole trip I'd go with Pop. It's more centrally located and convenient and the Skyliner is great.

I personally feel the Skyliner is worth it, but I also have some claustrophobia issues (crowded places, not small spaces) so for me it's not worth having a mild panic attack on a bus. I think both resorts have the second bed as a murphy bed now.

I haven't been to All-Stars in a while, so I'm not familiar with the food court situation. Pop Century food court was fine, but with the Skyliner we had the option to hop over to CBR or Riviera so we had extra food options.

However, you might find that the money you save from staying at All-Star Movies will allow you to do more in-park stuff or an extra nice dinner during your stay.

Keep in mind the Skyliner is closed towards the end of January (23-29 I think?) so keep that in mind if that's around when you'd be visiting.

I think it also depends on what parks you plan on visiting the most? If you will be spending most of your time at MK and AK, then no, not worth it. If you plan to be at Studios and Epcot the most - then yes.

$130 for the whole trip? I'd say Yes. Per night, probably not--considering whether it's "worth it" as a form of transportation, you could take a lot of Ubers right were you want to be for $130 (or you could just save that money of course).

But I love the Skyliner. It's an attraction by itself for me. We go out of our way just to ride it.

With trying to keep costs down,I would say no,BUT I would "work" the Skyliner in as much as possible because,as posted above,it is an ATTRACTION!

For example, when going from Movies to Epcot, instead of taking the bus to the front of Epcot, take the bus to Hollywood Studios and then Skyliner from Hollywood Studios to International Gateway at Epcot and do the reverse when leaving Epcot.

And definitely ride the Skyliner to Pop Century also-much fun flying over Hourglass Lake!

IMO, the Skyliner is absolutely worth $130 overall on a trip. Is it worth $130/night? Probably not but it depends on the length of the stay. Don't get me wrong, I love AS Movies, but the addition of the Skyliner makes Pop win out for me almost every time. I've heard people complain about chaos when the Skyliner goes down, but I've not experienced it. We rely on it heavily when we're at Pop or CBR. The convenience factor of getting to DHS and EPCOT is amazing. Of course, if you're not planning to hit those parks, then it's irrelevant.

In short, if it's $130 total and you do plan to go to DHS and/or EPCOT, then I'd go with Pop. If not, then save your money.

If price is your main concern, then go with ASMovies. The skyliner is great and the $130 could be small if you're going for 7 days, but could be big if you're going for 3 days. Just ask yourself if having a neater, faster way to get to DHS or EPCOT is worth the money, or if you'd rather save that for food or something else. Not having the skyliner won't break your vacation.

I am a Skyliner Convert. Stayed at Pop in October, and the skyliner is absolutely worth the extra money.

Also keep in mind the front of Epcot is currently a huge mess. The skyliner drops you at the back of the park, which is a huge plus.

So I stayed at All-Star Movies in 2021 and Pop Century in 2022. They have a lot of similarities—nearly the same room design, same food at the food court, etc. Pop obviously has the Skyliner, Hourglass Lake, and a bigger gift shop. But that’s pretty much it. I actually prefer All-Star Movies because I think the lobby looks nicer and it’s more affordable.

As for transportation . . . I like the buses. I also like the Skyliner—it’s undoubtedly cool and convenient. But as a solo traveler, it was also mildly awkward to feel like I was butting in on another family’s Skyliner car, and also mildly awkward getting out of a moving car while carrying a lightsaber, haha.

If it is $130 difference for the entire trip I think its worth it if you planned on spending a lot of time at World Showcase or Hollywood Studios. The layout of the rooms are pretty much the same. Pop doesn't have an ice cream counter at the resort which I like to have, otherwise food options are similar at both.

Depends entirely on the time of year. If it's during the winter months (with the exception of the week it's closed), then yes. If it's in the summer when there's going to be daily thunderstorms and the Skyliner is likely to have a lot of downtime, then no.

Agree. Leaving Epcot or DHS when the skyliner is down is a hot mess. Especially after a long day. Lots of annoyed and angry people and crying kids.

My daughter and I feel it is worth it. The Skyliner has become part of our vacations now. We often travel to eat breakfast or dinner at the Riviera's quick service location, always take time to visit CB and Riviera resorts and just really like it as an alternative to the bus.

I've never stayed at ASM, but have always liked POP (even before the skyliner.) If it's $130 more for the whole trip, I'd probably stay at POP, but if it's $130 more per night, I'd definitely try out ASM.

Thanks for the responses. My decision was made for me as when I went to book Pop was no longer available.
