Okay this is it.........we leave in just a few weeks and I need to know some specifics!! We had booked ASMO a long time ago and were very excited to stay there and then we had read some unfavorable reviews and were told some things that are making us wonder.......so ANYONE out there that has stayed at ASMO recently, please please tell me:

1. Are the rooms really so small that they use full size beds rather than queens and if so can two fairly large people(200-250 lbs.)fit on them or will we not be sleeping much that week?

2. Are the bathrooms really so small that you have to climb over the toilet to close the door, only one person in there at a time, etc.??

3. This is a biggee.....is there a coffee maker or iron or ANY amenities that you would normally find in any other hotel?

4. Is it geared only toward LITTLE kids? Ours are 9 and 12 and we don't want them to think "oh this is lame".

5. Do they have any of the other regular stuff like towels and soap and stuff that other places have??

I guess I am starting to get nervous....I mean if they don't have a coffee maker and we want to bring oatmeal or hot choc with us, is there hot water available(in the refillable mugs that everyone talks about on here)in the food court?? We are just trying to figure out a family of four in these rooms-can it be done?? ANY tips, info, etc. would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Take a deep breath.....your room at ASM will be the size of any standard room you would recieve at most motels.

1) Yes the beds are double's but the only Queens that are standard would be at Deluxe Resorts. Even Moderates come with doubles.

2) The bathroom has the tub and toilet in one area then sink and counter are outside where the open closet area is.

3) No coffee maker's are in room. You might could request iron ect.. from Mousekeeping.

4) A 9 and 12 year old will love the decore.

5) Yes they have soap and towels mousekeeping will bring fresh towels every day...soap and shampoo dispensers are located in bath area, with bar hand soap at sink.

They do have hot water in food court area.

Relaxe and stop obsessing..you'll have a great trip. ::yes::

The double bed may be cozy for you and your spouse, but other than that, the All-Star Movies is a great resort!!

My hubby is large - 300 lbs, and uses an electric scooter, so what we have started doing is getting two rooms for our family of four. This is still way less expensive than any room on property with a queen bed. We request a handicapped room connecting to two doubles. The handicapped rooms have a king bed which makes things a lot more comfortable for me and hubby. Our boys are 16 and 17 (and over 6' tall) and each need a double bed to themselves.

However, when the boys were younger at 9 and 10 the first trip (Sports) and 11 and 12 the second trip (Music), we only had one room and were fine. The beds are really comfortable and sleep well.

Just relax!! It'll be great :-)

You will love the ASmo resort.
We are going there very soon and I can hardly wait. We stayed at the ASMu last time, ASMo this coming trip. I am a larger person and the beds were comfortable last time.
RELAX!
This resort is as Magical as any of the others on WDW property. You can get an iron from Mousekeeping and if you would like coffee or hot water in your room- an electric kettle can easily be brought or bought at a local store. (easier in the am than the refillable mugs-some rooms are further then others to the food court buildings).
Enjoy your vacation!
:hyper: :moped: :wave2:

We were just there on Sept. 24th for a week and both of our rooms in dalmatian had irons and ironing boards already in the rooms as a permanent fixture. (there was a holder for both mounted to the wall in the closest area near the safe). Hot water is in the coffee machines at the beverage bar--but there is also hot cocoa on the beverage bar.

Beds--sorry to be candid here, but hubby and I are both around 150 lbs (I'm under/he's over slightly) and find the beds a tight sqeeze for us. I do wake up alot afraid I'm going to fall off, since we are use to our Queen size at home. We do often just each use a bed to ourselves, since it's usually just the 2 of us.

Bathroom: you do have to go completely inside to close the door because there is little clearance between the stool and the door path. The vanity outside helps alot.

We stay here several times a year and find the value of the resort outways these little differences. When we step up, we usually go to a Delux, because don't find the difference between the value and moderates enough to justify the cost--IMHO.

Thank you thank you thank you for all the info!! I feel much much better now. Maybe someone should write to the author of "Frommers".......he's the one that really downgraded the All Star Resorts. Made it sound like a closet. I really can't wait-just nervous is all!! Thanks again-you guys are great!!

Oh, and don't worry about the kids thinking things are lame.

When my two boys 16 & 17 get away from their friends and away from the need to be "cool" even Dumbo isn't lame!!!!

They have a ball and so do we, seeing them as they truly are without the influence of their friends at school.

Oh one thing that was funny last trip, they met some girls at the football field at All-Star Sports and gave up a day at the parks to go watch them play softball at Wide World of Sports :-)

Your kids will have a ball!!!

How long is that walk from 101 Dalmatians to the Food Court? It looks like quite a hike!

When we go in December my husband and I are staying at the Poly Concierge. My daughter always brings a friend so we get 2 rooms. The girls are 17 and 18.Instead of having their own room at the Poly they begged us to get them a room at the All Star Movies.I guess they're not too old for it.They love it and they requested Toy Story.

The walk from the Dalamatian to the food court is about 3 minutes. This may look like a long walk, but is not. I think from Mighty Duck to the food court is about 4 minutes. Unlike the Music where the sections are in a straight line, the Movies is more circular where there is never a very big walk from anywhere (maybe lovebug). There are also back ways around to get to the front. From Mighty Duck, instead of going through the center, there is a walkway in front of the building that goes straight to the lobby, taking about 3-4 minutes also.

We've stayed at all the AS's and let me tell you for the money and compared to the "roach motels" on the "outside" they are the best deal going!!!This is our 6th trip and we'll be off to ASMO again (2nd year ina row)!!!It's cool...my DD who is 10 loved it...It fulfills our needs as a family and yes you can request and iron...I do it every year!!!!Have a blast...you won't be disappointed!!!!

We stayed at ASMo a week ago. The Dalmatian room we had last year was closer than our Fantasia room this year (still not that far, considering all the walking you do anyway).
The beds are doubles and are small...DD who is 7 and a mover has to have one to herself. DH (165 lbs) and myself (112 lbs) share one, they are a little tight, we are used to our queen size. The bathroom door is a little hard to shut ... funny, we have stayed there 3 times and I just noticed it on the last trip. The rooms are adequate for us...the dresser is large enough and there is a table and chairs.

which all stars has the coolest pool, were going in May and my 10 year old loves the water??
thanks Brooke1

The coolest pools are not at the Allstars. They are nice, but no slides, etc. ASMo has Sorceror Mickey shooting water out, looks kind of neat.

This is true...the pool thing....the Fantasia Pool is our favourite (ASMO) but we usually swim at night before we go to bed just for something to do...I find the water parks are your best bet for fun water stuff....Typhoon Lagoon is my personal favourite just because being Candian and all, we are attempting to escape the ice and snow, so therefore Blizzard Beach seems somewhat less appealing....but they are both a blast.Anyway we practically spend no time at the resort so the pool for me is a minor issue!!!!
