All Star Movies FAQ!!!!!

We've stayed at the Movies and at Sports. I've heard and read different boards where people complained about the noise but we never heard anything from the rooms around us. We were there at spring break one time and at Christmas one time and never were bothered with the noise. The food courts can be very crowded, especially in the morning, but we went and got our food and took it back to the room to eat. When we were at the Movies we were in the Toy Story section and it was great. Be sure to tour the whole resort because each section has great theming.

Well I talked to my husband last night and I think we are going to go with 2 connecting rooms for our trip next year vs staying at the WL, so I will need all the info I can get since we have never stayed there. One of my problems is that we may or may not be staying during cheerleader time can someone tell me when the normally are there?( we will be going in Dec 13-21 2003) Also my DD has told me that she would like to stay in the dalmation area is that pretty good area to pick, we will renting a car but will be taking advantage of the food court and don't want to be too far . Thanks.

In response to the question about faxing in room reservations, the following sites are extremely helpful:

www.wdwig.com/cro1.htm

that site gives you info on making room reservations and even gives a sample fax.

The other site is:

www.wdwig.com/res_phn.htm

This site gives the phone and fax number of each of the Disney resorts.

If you want to access the home page of Deb's unofficial site the address is, www.wdwig.com. I cannot recommend this site highly enough. The site has more information about planning a Disney trip than this type A, obsessively planned and organized individual can digest.

In response to the question about what bump means:
In my understanding bump just means that people are bumping the message back up to the top of the board to keep it fresh and active in hopes of more people participating in the discussion of this particular subject.

Hope this is helpful.

Our family's first stay at ASMovies was 2/2002 with the $49 rate.
We requested the one of the Toy Story buildings, not being particular to which building. We stayed in the Woody building #9, second floor near the corner facing the parking lot. It was a really quite area. The room was adaquate for our family. The themeing of the room was quite cute. Housekeeping kept our room spotless and always supplied us with more than enough towels and Mickey soap!! We had even requested extra pillows when we first arrived and they were delivered right away. Also, housekeeping took the time to set up our DD's stuffed toys in cute ways. And set up little scenes in the window with her stuffed Toy Story bean toys and other Disney toys and a Minnie balloon she got at MK.
The resort themeing was quite cute as well. The large characters made for great pictures. And our DD loved the pool. The resort's lobby was a nice distraction for our DD with the movies they show on a large screen. And check in went rather smoothly too. And the resort's store offered lots of nice items. We found the food court to offer a lot of good choices which we weren't expecting. We thought we wouldn't eat there often during our stay, but we found ourselves eating there almost every night for dinner and a couple times for breakfast as well. We had brought breakfast items with us to eat in our room, which worked out rather well too. One neat thing about the food court: while getting an afternoon snack of grapes for our DD one day we were approached by a food court employee asking if our DD could be involved in the nightly ribbon cutting ceremony. We said "Sure, great...what is it??!!??".:) Basically they ribbon off the entries to the food court area right before dinner is served, the manager made a little announcement and had our DD cut the ribbon allowing guests to have dinner. She got a great round of applause and a really neat certificate and a Goofy pen. So if your around right before dinner starts, later afternoon, keep an eye open for this. It was a lot of fun for all!!
The transportation was always good. We never waited for a bus for very long at all. And the laundry room was kept in good condition.

Overall we had a great stay there. Our needs were met and the price was good. And the food was better than we expected.
We will stay there again in the future. Anyone with children will find this resort to be just the right Disney themeing!:)

WE have stayed in ASMo and ASMu and had a great stay each time.
ASMu was just recent, and only for three nights. But we walked each AS resort this time. However, we didn't go into the pool area at ASSp.
The ONLY complaint I have had with AS is the laundry facilities are too small. Otherwise the AS' are great. It's just DH and I and we are in the room very little. So large rooms and fancy pools really don't mean much to us.
It would be nicer of the rooms had coffee makers and the pool areas had hot tubs. But oh well. For the price, I won't complain. I like the close access to everything more so than a further walk to everything. Although if Disney gave me a CSR room for the same rate as an AS, I wouldn't complain. ;) :jester:
And I can see that the in-room coffee maker is more important at a mod resort, such as CSR. Most likely guests have a further walk in CSR than an AS for morning coffee. (But not necessarily.)
Our room locations have been great. Woody building at ASMo. Calypso at ASMu.

Also, at ASMu we were facing the main pool.My first thought was the noise level. But the building is so well insulated on the front. It was a very quiet room from that aspect. Once you opened the door, there was a lot of pool noise, including loud music. But we didn't hear it in the room.
The AC was even nice and quiet.
The most noise came from hearing regular morning motel room noise -- just tiolets flushing and showers running. Nothing terrible, or unusual. Just what you would expect at any busy hotel. And it was busy that weekend (Columbus Day).
