Staying at the all start movies in the Fantasia building. Are we able to take our oatmela, bread etc etc each am to the food court to use thier microwaves etc and then eat there also? Or, if you don't purchase food from the court must you eat in your room? Is it thinkable that the walk from Fantasia to food court is not that far that we could do this?
Thanks!

I've never done this but I don't see a problem.

We take microwave popcorn and have it as a late snack, I think they want you to buy their stuff, but I didn't see any signs or anything saying so.

We use the microwave to pop popcorn. I wouldn't have a problem with someone bringing their food to the food court.

As far as the walk from Fantasia to the food court - you will be staying in one of the most centrally located buildings, especially if you are by the main pool. The walk to the food court/buses should not be an issue for you.

As far as using the microwave, toasters, etc. - they are located outside of the registers (after you check out) so you should be able to use these without a problem.

I hope you enjoy Movies - we have a lot of great family memories there. Make sure you take some time to walk to the different buildings to check out all the huge icons. We've got a lot of great family pictures with the icons.

Thank you, now if that stuff is outside the registers can we than still take our bowls, food what not into the court and sit down and eat or must we go back to room to eat?

you can sit down in the food court and eat. DS pretty much only eats pop tarts for breakfast and they don't sell the strawberry no frosting at disney. We would bring his pop tarts and toast them for him and we would eat there. No one ever said anything. We've done this at the All Stars, DL when it was DL and also when it was POR and also at WL. We also got some eggs and stuff from the food court. But there are no signs and noone really even pays attention to what you are putting in the toasters or microwaves.

I was just wondering though, how do you know you will be in the Fantasia building. If you requested it, they will try their hardest to get you there, I just don't want you to be disappointed if you don't get it. I know at one point they were talking about charging guests extra if they wanted a close building to the main building. I don't know if they have implemented that or not. Anyway I was just wondering about that.

Diane,
I had a standard room to begin with and one day I called about any discounts. They had a AAA deal and she said I would be in a preferred room in the Fantasia building. that is all I know, do you think they were not telling me correctly? When I have called since then , I always say I am in the Fantasia building and they say yes. They also have confirmed non smoking guaranteed due to my daughters asthma.

MJ. I guess because it is a specific upgrade from AAA they could be telling you correctly. They really wouldn't offer it up if they couldn't or wouldn't be doing it. I pretty much think it is a done deal.

I was just worried that you had just requested it and I didn't want you to get your hopes up and be disappointed. I want everyone to be happy at Disney. To me it is the most wonderful place on earth and want everyone to be as happy as I am when I am there with my family.

Hope you have a trip of a lifetime.

I also hope your daughters asthma doesn't act up.

Diane

copper-Fantasia is a preferred building, it costs $10 more a night than all of the other buildings.

Thanks, we haven't been there in a while, we don't much care where we are anymore as far as room close to main building, first floor, etc, since DS is older and we don't need the stroller and all that baby stuff anymore. We normally stay at DL (POR) and WL and have been at AKL.

Just some FYI< but with my AAA discount, the Fantasia building was actually per night cheaper than the standard room.

I was waiting for this thread to get back to your original question, but it veered off track somewhat.

As to your question about using the Movies food court facilities when you are NOT buying food there, you should at least be courteous who guests who are buying breakfast there. I have seen times that every table is full and people are walking around with their trays looking for a table. In this case, I don't believe that it is right for you to bring your own food and take a table. You could use the microwave and then return to your room. Or you could take your food outside to a table near the swimming pool. There are many tables and chairs by the pool.

If it is not crowded, it would probably be okay to take an inside table. But breakfast time is usually crowded at any of the All Star resorts. I really think that the guests buying food at the food court should have first dibs on the tables there.

Thank you and a very good point. I would not make anyone actually buying food not have a place to sit, maybe I will go outside, but also do feel that I am paying rather good money to stay there and that the price includes the food lounge whether I eat at the lounge or not. I guess what I am trying to say in a nice way is I feel I have the right to sit there also as I did pay to stay at that resort. We will see, we may not eat there at all I guess time will tell. I sure will not cause any issues as it is vacation and fun.
thanks again!!

We have had experence with several of these issues. We have stayed in fantasia and you are in the closest building to the food court. We got the AAA discount for ASMo and they upgraded us to fantasia for free. Normal upgrade is 10.00 per night. We have used the food court toaster and taken the food back to our room and we have also eaten a mix of our own food and bought food in the food court. What we have done is to purchase burgers or hotdogs form the food court and take drinks, chips, and cookies from our room and then eat it all in the food court. We have seen other people do this also and never seen this as a problem. Eating outside at a table by the pool is also nice and we do enjoy eating in our room too. The food court is very noisy.
One warning about the food court if you want to save money and you have kids. It is full of all these eye catching treats. Mickey bars, Mickey rice krispy treats, ice cream etc. A few trips through there can bust your whole food budget!!!!
If you feel uncomfortable eating in the court with out buying the food there, perhaps you could get your milk or juice there and eat your other items from home.

Enjoy you stay.

Generally the price of buying food includes the food lounge, not the price of the hotel room. This problem is often seen in the coffee shops in office buildings.

I don't really see a problem if some of your party is buying food (the adults) or if there are enough other tables. My opinion is it would be rude if people buying food couldn't get a table because people bringing their own food were tying up the tables.
