Ok I am a newbie but I have some really good information to share. My family and I traveled to Disney March 14-17 so we just got back and everything is fresh in my mind. There is a difference when you have kid's as to where you stay. I found maps of the hotel layout for All-Star Music, All-Star Sports, and All-Star Movies (after we got back). If you want to know what website I found the maps let me know. Looking at the map of All-Star Music it has a different layout than the other two. If you get a room in Country Fair which is where we stayed then be prepared to walk and walk. Past the Lobby and both pools, to the boots. Every evening we thought they must have moved the boots further out. We didn't have very much time to plan for this trip and there might be some information that we didn't realize but all I know is the buses are up front and our room was 3rd floor (yea elevators) and in the very back of the complex. In previous years (1994, 1997) we stayed at the All-Star Sports both times. I was younger then and didn't have kids, but I still don't remember walking that far. Looking at Sports and Movies (not sure about Pop) they surrounded the Lobby with the rooms in kinda a circular pattern. With Music it goes straight back. Don't get me wrong we wouldn't trade anything about our trip to Disney for the world , except maybe the rain :umbrella:! But we were traveling with end-of-the-day tired little one's, and I felt bad they had to walk that far. Hope this helps someone planning their next or first magical trip to Disney.

At ASMu it is worth the extra $10 a night for preferred unless you have a car. I would hate to make that walk to the boots after being in a park all day.

We've stayed in broadway twice and it is a long walk. The good thing is it's really quiet back there. It's almost closer to walk to AS Movies and catch the bus. On our last day we just drove up to the front and parked, then rode the bus.

Welcome to the boards allearsdwlover! We stayed so far away in ASsports one time that it was easier to walk over to the ASmusic facilities and bus transport.

Welcome to the DisBoards!! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We got lucky and stayed in Jazz Bldg a year ago. It was really close to the pool and the food court. and since we were on the third floor, in the back of the bldg it was very quiet. When we were just walking around the resort, scoping things out, I wondered how those that were in the back bldgs. liked it there. It did seem like a long walk to Country Fair and Broadway!!!

Are we there yet?

Knowing our luck if we tried to find a quicker way we would get lost and walk for days and days. We had a really great time though and it was quiet wwwwwwaaaaaayyyyyyy, wwwwwwaaaaayyyyy back in the back. Exercise is always a good thing. We stayed positive. Can ya tell? I love it that there are this many Disney lovers and I am not the only one. :earboy2:

Every evening we thought they must have moved the boots further out.
ROFL :rotfl:

We'll be at ASMu for the first time in June. Thanks for sharing your experience!

You're welcome. I can't wait until my next trip either. Be careful when you go because if you ask for the closest (Calypso sp? the big shaker things) they might charge the preferred rate of $10 more a night as mentioned by shatzjsl. I am jealous, you are going on the cruise. That would be the ultimate vacation. Have fun. Don't forget the sunscreen. :sunny:

Thank you! I'll have to think about it...I might rather pay the extra $10/night rather than haul my butt back to the boots every night, especially if they keep moving them further and further away. ;)

Calypso is worth the extra money. I have seen many complaints about the noise level being in such close proximity to the pool. That was not our experience. We were in Calypso, ground floor pool side and had no problems with noise. Calypso is definately worth it!

i stayed at All Star Music a few years ago. My friends mother, who was a Disney employee, got me a HUGE discount. I was in the second ground floor room in Calypso. It was great walking-wise. BUT, it was a bit noisier. i could hear everyone at the pool bar.

I swear, those boots were made for walking and that's exactly what they did.

Ok I'm done with the boot jokes. In a few years our family will look back on those boots and laugh. Heck we're laughing now. But even if you stay wwwwwaaaaayyyyy up by the Lobby, walk back to the boots (say wow that is a long walk) and take a really cool picture like you are about to get stepped on by "the BOOT". "Oh know, the boot is going to squish us" shot.

I had to laugh when I read about the WALK at AS Music. We have stayed there twice and been lucky enough to get Jazz #2 both times. Even that Jazz bldgo seems like a WALK at the end of the day when you are carryong tired younguns. For reasons unrelated to distance we will probablynot stay at ASMu again, but I know what you mean about the Calypso bldgs being worth the extra $$

Hello! Glad you had a nice trip. I have a few quick ?'s.

Do they have hair dryers in the rooms?
What are the pool hours?
How were the food courts?
Was the noise level bad, could you sleep at night?

Thanks again, I leave in under a week!!!!!!

Our room didn't have a hair dryer but I think some do. We might of had one and I just didn't pay attention. We weren't in the room except to sleep.
The pools usually stayed open until 11 pm
Food court was good but expect to pay. I hear the pizza delivery service is good.
There was no noise where we were because it was in the back. Something else to consider: we were so tired from the days events that nothing could have awoken us. The parents were up before the kids. :cloud9:

Due to BIIIIIGGGGG mistake with our Special Needs requested room (with connecting doors due to being almost all young children), we got MOVED, with my special needs daughter and other young children, waaaaaayyyyyy back to the Country Fair 6 bldg. It was insanely far, I was extremely ticked off, the carpets were wet (but clean, since they had JUST been cleaned), one remote control never worked, we had THREE marching bands in our building that woke us all up EVERY night, and did I mention it took us, with the little kids, TWENTY minutes to walk to the food court. We were even on the ground floor, which was a buit quicker but VERY noisy when those teens decided to just hang out in the courtyard and YELL a lot.

I had such a horrible, horrible experience in general at that resort last week that for my quick weekend trip this weekend, I changed my ressie from CBR to WL hoping that paying a lot more will give me some better service and LESS MARCHING BANDS!

If anyone wants the full story, I can get more specific. Point is that no matter how many times I double, triple checked that our rooms had a CONNECTING DOOR (my kids are too young to have their own room ,lol) and Special Services locking in our room assignments several months in advance so they would fit the relaxation needs of my special needs dd, it was all wrong.

anyway to ask to be as far upfront as possible without upgrading? just wondering we have a child with ASTHMA and in case of medical emergency wouldn't want to walk that far, any suggestions. Trying to Disney on a Budget this time. ::MickeyMo

Calyspo is closet then you have Jazz Inn. A great site it found to explore for Disney Tips is: http://www.allearsnet.com
It has all kinds of information and what I found especially useful was the Photos. From the Home page click Accommodations, then scroll down a little and you will see Value Resorts listed and click the 'photos - text link' and you can view the map of the resort. It is the first one listed. Have fun on your trip
