We are staying in an AS Family Suite in April. Where are they?? Is one location closer to pool, food court and bus stop?? What can you tell me about your stay?? Pros? Cons? Tips?? I'm getting very excited so the more info the better  Thanks for the fix ::MickeyMo

I can tell you we stayed in one last April and loved it. I'm actually considering going back this year again and am looking at rates.

Our room was overlooking the guitar shaped pool and we were approximately a hop, skip and a jump from the food court.

I know you will absolutely love the suite.

:)

Here is some info on the Family Suites:

*** They are 520 square feet.

*** The Family suites are located in the Jazz and Calypso buildings at All Star Music.(these are the closet buildings to the food court and the bus stop.

*** They cost less than a standard room at AKL or WL.

***1-6 adults may stay in a suite for the same set price.
(There is an additional fee of $10 per night for a 3rd or 4th additional adult in a standard value room.)

*** They have a QUEEN size bed (the other values and even the mods do not have a queen bed.

***The fridge is included (if you booked 2 connecting value rooms you would need to pay $10 extra for a night for a fridge if you wanted one.

*** They come with a microwave and coffeepot (If you booked 2 connecting value rooms you would not even be be able to rent a microwave and coffeepot.

***They have 2 TV's (if you book POR or a Deluxe room which sleeps 5 you will have 1 TV)

***They have 2 bathrooms (if you book POR or a Deluxe room which sleeps 5 you will have 1 Bathroom.)

Here is some info about the Family Suites:

The Family Suites are located in the Calypso and Jazz Inn Buildings.
(The Calypso and Jazz Inn buildings are the nearest buildings to the main pool, food court, and bus stop.)

Calypso Building 1 has 32 suites
Calypso Building 10 has 54 suites
Jazz Inn Building 2 has 52 suites
Jazz Inn Building 9 has 54 suites

The suites are located on all three floors, and are near each other, but none offer connecting suites. There is no price difference between the buildings.

Check here for the 2007 rates:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/disney-rates-2007.htm#VALUE

For comparison, the price of a Family Suite is $9-11 more then 2 Standard Rooms, or $13-15 less the 2 Preferred Rooms, depending on season.

------------------------

The new family suites offer an affordable and convenient option for larger families with the amenities of a studio apartment.

Families can be together in the suite while enjoying separate sleeping areas with added privacy. Having two bathrooms will not only save time, but makes getting ready easier for the whole family. Plus, extra amenities like a microwave enable guests to prepare warm snacks and meals. With the extra room, guests can relax and recount the memories of the day before falling off to a goodnight’s sleep.

They:

-Sleep up to 6 (plus one child under age 3 in a Pak-n-Play crib)
-Studio amenities and separate sleeping areas giving more privacy than a standard room.
-Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers (4 separate sleepers)
-Private master bedroom and family room have 27” flat CRT TV and high speed internet access.
-Kitchenette with microwave, small refrigerator (4.3 cu. ft) and coffee pot
-Two-full bathrooms

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Linda~ I was hoping you where on the boards , you are the Family Suite Queen. Are the family suites in for want of a better term perferred buildings? Is there a location that you would recommend over another??? I'm getting very excited :cheer2: How is the food court at Music?? Buses??? We never stayed at ASMU . We have stayed at ASMO. Thanks again.

We were just there last week in a family suite. We were in Calypso 10 room 428. It's very near the guitar pool and the food court. We were on the other side of the building (not facing the pool) and it was very quiet. Right about 10 we'd hear people above us getting ready for bed (flushing toilets) but after that it was very quiet.

The food is pretty good, not cheap but not expensive either. After we bought our mugs I noticed they had 2007 on them, so they were still getting rid of the 2007 mugs as of last week, I think they were putting out the new ones (w/o the dates) toward the end of the week. I was kind of bummed to have a 2007 one but oh well!

I thought the busses were great, we never waited more than 5 minutes EXCEPT Thursday night we were going to MGM for Fantasmic and waited almost half an hour for a bus (meantime 2 AK busses came through, and AK closed at 5 that day, and 3 MK busses came through). It only took about 10 minutes to get to Epcot and MGM, about 15 min to DTD and MK. Of course, bus times will vary every time but over all we had a great experience. Coming back from MK one night after the fireworks there was a huge line for ASMu but no line for ASSp, so we got on the Sports but and got off there and walked to Music - not very far at all. MK had dedicated Music buses, the other resorts and DTD I think all the allstars shared a bus.

We really loved it there, I have post-Disney depression this week :sad1: I am praying for a 40% off code because if get one I'm taking DD back for a few days this summer for our annual Mother/Daughter trip - we've never done one to Disney and I miss it so much :lovestruc

I have a ton of pics, email me at sarahsmommy92303@yahoo.com if you'd like to see some. I haven't written up a trip report or posted many pics since we've been back.

M2aprincess4~ sounds like a wonderful trip! Thanks for the info. The only cure for Disney withdrawal is to plan a new trip

We were also in Calypso #10, last week - Room 450. This was on the parking lot side of the building so it was very quiet. Just around the corner was the pool and the main building. It was very convenient.

We did not have any long waits for buses while we were there. That was one of my major concerns too, and it was unfounded.

As I stated in another post, I am not a fan of the values, but we have nothing but good to say about ASMu Family Suites.

The Family Suites are in the Calypso and Jazz Inn Buildings.
The Calypso buildings are the preferred buildings (nearest to the main pool, food court and bus stop.) The Jazz Inn buidings are next to the Calypso buildings and are also quite near the main pool, food court and bus stop.

---------------------------------------------
Here is some info on the All Star Music resort:

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

I have stayed at all levels of Disney resorts and my favorite Disney owned resort is All Star Music.

1. I can book a preferred room location.
The way All Star Music is laid out it "seems" smaller than most of the other Disney resorts. If I stay in a preferred building i only see the Calypso and Jazz builings on the way to to and from the main pool and the bus stop and food court. Since I stay in preferred room I know I am going to be close to the food court, bus stop, & main pool.

2. I enjoy the theming at the All Stars. All Star Music is also is the quietest of the values. Generally less people stay there and there are more seniors and couples and less young children because children enjoy the themes of the other values more.

3. The bus service at the All Star Music is very good. Since I use an EVC good bus transportation is essential.

4. The entry at the values and Mods are much more Handicap friendly.
I am able to get in and out of my All Star room unassisted. This way my husband can go and play a round of golf and know I can leave my room to relax by the pool if I choose.
--------------------------------------------------

All Star Music is my favorite resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

All Star Music just underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

---------------------------------------------------------

DH and I enjoy the landscaping and peacefulness of All Star Music.
We enjoy relaxing by the pool (there are plenty of chairs and lounges), and the beautiful lighting at the resort by night.

I have never had the unfortunate experience of running into the any of the large
groups of teens who sometimes stay at the values on school trips.
As long as you can avoid those large groups I do not think Noise will be an issue.

*HINT if you close your bathroom door at night you might not even hear the turbo toilets.
I close my bathroom door and I don't hear them.
------------------------------------

I love The All Star Resorts.

I am 56 years old and travel several times a yearfor pleasure. I often stay at 3and 4 star and sometimes a 5 star hotels and motels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
Staying at an All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.

The Calypso pool at ASMu has Donald Duck.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Movies share and Music has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The pools at The All Stars are very kid friendly.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

Here are a few pool photos.

All Star Movies Mickey Pool.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.

My last 6 visits have been at The All Stars and during the fall of 2005 when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3(at the time) for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have fun at Disney!

ahh so it was you next door to us.. I had replied to your original post when you came back. I had seen the DIS sign on your door but couldn't remember your user name. :)
