All Star early May - noise level?

We are Planning on staying at The All Star Sports in early May 2005, but someone has told us it is very noisy with cheerleaders and other types of teams practicing at all hours. We will have our 19 month old with us and I would prefer not to have to deal with late night and early morning rowdiness. Should we book there or at another Disney Resort. Thanks, Skoikhigs

I have stayed at Sports, but not in May. We have always been there in either June or July with sport groups always there. In order to cut down on the noise, ask for a room away from the courts and swimming pools. I always asked for Touchdown building 10 with a room with a back view. Your view could be of a parking lot though. I never had problems with any noise other than once when a family let their boys jump up and down yelling on beds with their door of their room propped open, but it wasn't the sports kids.

We've done sports, movies and music, each time in early may (like before the 15th). We have seen some groups around (mostly at the pool), but they haven't been bothersome in the food courts or late at night/early AM. Maybe we've just been lucky, but they haven't seemed to be huge groups or that numerous. My personal theory on this has always been that early May is when schools are winding down, so the older kids have exams and end of year testing, etc. so can't miss school to go to WDW. But that's just a theory. The last two years we've gone in May, none of the AS resorts has had all their buildings open -- low occupancy, so no need to have them all open. I have encountered large groups at these resorts at other times of year, however. Maybe may is just slower, or we're just lucky.

We have not stayed in an All Star in several years but even in January, without groups, there is some noise if you try to go to bed fairly early. We always travel with a white noise machine. It does wonders to drown out outside noise. You can get one for about 10 bucks at walmart.
