head's up, no longer can one book Air Tran res thru Kayak & eliminate the seat fees

was sweet while it lasted

between the assigned seat charges, luggage fees & ever-changing schedules; guess i'll run out my reward credits best I can this year & jump ship totally to SWA.

feel free to do so

when i went thru kayak today (multiple attempts) to price out a reservation, assigning seats cost extra after selecting/final payment page.

I tested it a couple days ago after reading that the loop was closed and I believe that it is. Doesn't affect me normally because I book exit row seats if it is just me and DH flying and those I always had to pay for anyway.

A little googling showed me a press release from '06 talking about a strategic partnership between airtran and kayak.

Sounds like the partnership isn't quite as strategic anymore!


Doubt it was a "loophole"; seems it might have been some really good advertising.

Soooo glad I booked last week! Plus I got the 'front of the bus' $15 seats for free! Gonna have to re-think flying AirTran in the future now that this Kayak trick is gone...
