Are any of the villas in Orange County? I see they are raising the county tax there to be 12.5%. So was wondering beign we own at BWV if that would mean our dues will go higher again.

I don't think this applies to DVC. It sounds like the hotel tax will go from 11 1/2% to 12 1/2%, just as it currently is for AK, CSR, and All Star resorts.

This just make DVC a better deal!!!

I guess we'll find out when the annual dues statements come out if they raised property taxes or not. DVC members DO pay taxes, but it's figured in the annual dues.

florida has raised property tax every year - why should this one be different?

Just keep in mind that the Orange County tax increase to 12.5% is the room tax - NOT the property tax. While there is likely to be an increase in property taxes, the room tax increase is not a component of our dues and is not somethng that DVC members pay when using points. It will only affect cash stays (even member discounted cash stays).

Cash rate increases will always include a portion to cover property taxes in the basic room rate (with or without any discount) - the room tax is in addition to all other costs - any increase in the room rate is actually accentuated since the 12.5% is figured on the rate paid, so any increase will add additional cost to the total.

The 12.5% room tax rate will not affect point stays at all- even in our annual fees.
