DH & DS17 will be traveling to Ireland & England this April. Since this is DS' 1st trip, they will be doing the touristy things, Dublin, London, Bath-
What can they expect for weather? What clothing is appropriate?
Do folks in Ireland & England dress more formally than in the US?
We are not shorts & sandals people, the guys usually wear Dockers or neat jeans, sneakers or boat shoes, cotton button down shirts or T-shirts.
DH is balking at taking a suit jacket, is it needed?

Thanks in advance for any advice! :sunny:

I am afraid the weather can be very changeable this time of year. It can be warm but also cold. It has been known to even snow!! Do a 10 day forecast before they go for example

If they are not shorts people they should be fine. We have what is called "April showers" so one minute the sun is shining and warm the next can be raining and windy.

Let us know how they get on

Casual clothing is the norm here unless going to a top class restaurant, which may require a jacket and tie. The clothes you describe sound fine and smarter than alot of people here!! Weather can be unpredictable could be in the high 50's or into the mid 70's, be prepared for rain with a suitable jacket as well.

Jeans, sweaters will be fine in 99.99% of establishments :) Make sure they have a brolly and a lightweight jacket to ensure they stay warm!

Obviously, if it's a really nice restaurant they might wish to smarten up a little.

My DH only wears a suit jacket to weddings ;) so no, not required :)

Just going to move this over to UK Community for you.

Thank you Miffy2003 :sunny:
I apologize for my misplacement of this thread!

Thank you everyone for your advice. Guess my guys will not be too out of place-
I will encourage DH to post his questions here. He has been studying the Rick Steeves books & Fodor's, but there is nothing like asking DISers!
