All booked up for Segway!!! Now suspended????

We called this week to book the Segway tour for the first week of December. The CM informed me they had no openings!!!! We ended up splitting our group of 4 into 2 groups of 2. They only had openings on 2 days for the time we are there. CM advised they are filling up fast.

This morning I read that the tours are suspended now…does anyone know anything about this?
 
I am holding now with wdw-tour, all they know is that they were cancelled yesterday and today. She said to periodically keep checking back to see if it is cancelled for your trip. We are scheduled for 10/4, I hope everything is okay by then!

I saw it on cnn.com the other day that Segway had issued a recall. I guess they are waiting for the fix before they let guests back on them... Better to be safe than sorry!

Have you done the Segway tour before? We did it in April. It was sooo much fun!!!! Hopefully the issue will be resolved by the time you leave.

Based on the difficulty I have had with all my reservations for out trip in December I think my trip is going to be crowded…
 
We've never done it before. I was hard for us to schedule a time (we waited too long -- we wanted to have the money for it before booking it so we wouldn't use the credit card!) The time we got was the only time left during our trip. We are so excited! I think it will be fixed quickly -- the article I read said it required a software fix... Hopefully, that won't be too hard to do!

I am positive it should be a distant memory by the time your trip comes around!
 

I would think that the tours should be starting up soon. I know someone who actually just purchased a Segway for a friend. She said that she has been told the necessary software update will take about 30 minutes. I would think that Disney would get their machines fixed as soon as possible.
 
I read on another board that Segway sent a software representative to Disney and they are doing the fixes yesterday and today as we speak. The Segway tours resume tomorrow.
 
For tours and businesses, Segway is sending (or has sent) representatives out to do the software fixes on-site, so Disney should be up and running very quickly. Individual owners are either being sent to their local dealer or being sent boxes to ship their Segways in to get the update.

We're scheduled for our third tour at the end of October and fully expect to be gliding through Epcot as scheduled! I only hope they take this chance to swap out the Segways for the new models so we get a chance to ride those!

I read somewhere that there was a new Segway model out, do you know anything about it??
 
The i2 is a true second generation model - the control stick is now also the turning mechanism rather than just the twist handle that did that before. So the same way you lean forward and back to go those directions, you also lean yourself and the control stick to turn. I've yet to ride the new one but have been doing research as DH and I will probably be buying a couple of Segways in the next year or two (we work and live downtown and could truly commute on them most of the year). I'm so glad this will probably be a quick fix. I booked my Dec. 7 Segway tour at 90 days out, just so I'd be able to do this. Was a little concerned about the glitch, but if it's just a software update, it should go quickly.
 
My DH and I saw a demo at Epcot, inovations. We just walked up to try it. Indoors around cones. This was a little hands on demo. While we were there they told us about the tour. We called and made a reservation for a few days away. (sept/aug crowds are down so I guess so are tours).

The small demo had the newer model with no twist turns. I was surprised to see the older model used on our actual tour. No one in our group had the newer model.
