We are planning to cruise on Explorer of the Seas in November, 2014. Just curious if any one has done the All Access Tour of the ship? Seems a little pricey to me ( $150 pp) but DH seems interested.
Thanks!

Thanks!

I've done it on Liberty and Allure. Did it on Liberty first and thought it was too expensive until we actually did it - then we thought it was worth it! :lmao: We enjoyed it so much we did it again on Allure, and convinced our friends to do it, too - they said it was one of the highlights of their trip. (DH is staring over my shoulder as I type saying "tell them to just do it!" :rotfl2: ) I think it was totally worth it, and would do it again on another ship. I just consider it another "excursion."

I'm not the OP, but thanks Robin! What about for a 10 year old boy? Would it be something he would enjoy ($150 worth) or something for him to go to the kid's club for?

Just be aware of time factor!

My sister & BIL did this on the Allure. They said it was really worth the money. I looked at their pictures and it is something I would've enjoyed too. The price was not a factor for me but the time was. It took four hours (you are told it takes 3 1/2 or so they told me) and I just wanted to enjoy another day at sea. If you are interested in the workings of the ship from bottom (mundane housekeeping) all the way to top (how the captain navigates) and all in between (the food of course) then you will enjoy this tour.

For pp who asked about ten year old... unless they are VERY mechanically inclined I say let them skip it. Just lasts too long.

Hi Molly. Sorry for the delay in replying - we were actually in Orlando all last week! :) (No WDW this time, but did Discovery Cove/Sea World/Aquatica, which was great!)

I think a typical 10-year-old would probably find a lot of it boring. You go to areas like the crew bars and lounges, laundry, sewing shop, and walk-in refrigerators - cool for adults, but not exactly exciting for kids most likely. The bridge and engine control room have a lot of electronics which he might find interesting, and the room with the anchor has a lot of neat machinery. It's also a pretty long tour, and there's nowhere to go running around because you have to stay out of the crew's way, and some of the areas are pretty cramped. So, it obviously would depend on the energy and concentration levels of the kid, but for most 10 year olds, i'd think it would be mostly boring. Trying to recall, but I don't think we had kids on either of the tours we did.

There are reviews on these boards with pictures, so maybe show him some pix and see if he seems interested?

Hope that helps!
