All About Fixed Weeks (RIV/CCV/AUL/VGF/POLY/TOWER/VHD/FWC Charts)

That’s kind of where I am now. I really don’t see myself staying that week 39 very often and even then probably not Sunday to Sunday. Combine that with the extra cost and I think I’m better off just buying straight points.

Yep, it's not like those extra 14 points themselves takes you to a new threshold that would really lower the cost per point either. The only thing you'd be losing on is maybe some perceived extra resale value which is worthless until you actually decide to sell it and since it's already a relatively small contract probably won't increase the PP cost significantly anyways.

That is why we opted out of FW…we’d never use it and I just don’t think it’s going to be more popular for buyers or may limit buyer pool who see it and don’t want it.

Plus, will those who bought FW want a higher price because of it, shrinking those interested?
For me it is worth the upcharge, especially for week 49. As far as my Poly purchase goes, We always visit in September, usually 3-4th week. Buying first week of September ( week 36) because it was the cheapest FW for Poly and includes a holiday. If the points chart go up, it’s a win/win even for resale.

The ease of automatic booking in of itself is worth it.

I bought a week 47 fixed week for VGF. It falls most years on US thanksgiving. We’re Canadian. We have no intention of ever going on week 47 but I thought it had good value and if we hold on to the contract for the life of it, it may come in handy in those latter years when most owners are resale owners and there’s not much availability elsewhere.

We got earlier this week a week 39 resort studio at the Poly. While we don’t necessarily travel during that specific week, it works for us as we have one trip during F&W and we don’t have a “favorite week” when we have to go. My wife and I have mostly moved to 1BRs, but every now and then we stay at studios and we can make that sacrifice for the Polynesian. I see ourselves using it half of the time, but I wanted 100 points and this is close and will save us a few points here and there.

Now waiting for LSL to get that week 50 that I’m missing for the holidays lol

Congrats!!

Is there a list of Riviera fixed weeks sold? I would consider a 1 or second week in May SV studio fixed week for my add on so when BWV is done I still have my May week. I wonder if one is available.

Yeah, I could call a guide but I want to wait for my poly sale to close before I start with a new guide.

My old guide abandoned me and had not reached out in 4 years since the initial purchase even when I paid off my loans.... not the best salesman. Looking to find a new one.

I’d love to know the answer to this too. Whenever I try to get details about FWs from my guide, she always says determining availability is difficult so I need to give her a bunch of different options to check.

I understand that inventory will fluctuate but it seems odd that they don’t just have a list of what’s still open given most recent declarations. Is it just my guide?

No, they have to check if a specific week is available because even if there have been no sales, DVC can decide to not sell a week and pull it at any moment. Usually the latest FW point chart (attached in the first post) has the unavailable weeks blank, but they don't update that often.

There is not an offical list. DVC can sell no more than 35% of inventory on any given use day for fixed weeks.

But they don’t have to sell that high if they don’t want.

So, you have to call and ask for the specific week you want.

Expect a phone call back with the answer :rotfl2: He never responds to me via email when I email.
I am sure they are not allowed, that would be in writing and not fall under the "verbal promises clause " although my last guide did not make any false claims and I am sure you would not be recommending him if Bill did.

My guide always responded to my emails with emails, including inquiries about FW availability. No hesitation making written statements that X was available.

I should be clear I didn't email to ask about the FW. It was just a tongue in cheek comment about how I prefer email and hate talking on the phone and when I email him he always calls me back.
