I wasn't sure where to post this so I'm trying here. I just got home from the movie, I saw it in 3D on the IMAX theater. It was very good! I have never been to an imax theater, it was so cool and the 3D effects were good!

Just wanted to share!

:3dglasses

that's awesome. Thanks for letting us know...we are also going Saturday 3d/imax for my gf's birthday.

:cool1::banana::dance3::yay::woohoo:

We are going tonight after work so excited, kids cannt wait too lol

DH and I probably going tomorrow morning to see it in 3d unfortunately there is no Imax anywhere around here :(

What ages would you recommend for it? I absolutely want to see it, it's just a matter of if I go with my 3 (ds8, ds6, dd5) or if I sneak to it while they are in school. ;)

I would love to know about age appropriateness too! I would love to take my 3 kids--just not sure.

Thanks for the review. I read online that it is not that great. Then I watched the Today Show and Gene Shalit said the same thing.
I hate critics! :) I am going to see it tonight. I love Johnny and Tim together, they are amazing.

I (not having seen it yet) would probably NOT take a child under 10 or 12...the Red Queen looks pretty freakin scary and it looks pretty dark.

I was told at the DisneyStore yesterday that the original Disney Alice is being brought out again...I'm sure lots of moms will buy it as an age appropriate alternative. I know we will buy it for our grandchildren.

HTH

I wouldn't take my boys to see it (they are 5 and 3)...but I haven't let them watch the Terminator movies either and I know some other 5 yr olds have seen that. I'm not a good judge of ages but definitely (IMO) not a 3 year old. As for if the movie was good or not, I had a good time. I am not a movie critic and I haven't really been to the movies in ages. I liked the 3D effects on the IMAX theater..I didn't get bored or check my phone or watch.
I hope that you all enjoy the movie and definitely let me know what you think! :)

The "Movie Mom" on our local radio station said she liked Alice in Wonderland a lot. The 3D effects are really good.

She said to remember it is made by Tim Burton and would only take kids 10 and up.

I don't think I'd take very young children, but then again there are some Disney animated films that I would not take very young children to. Although I have not seen the movie, I also think any one seeing the film should be at least loosely familiar with the original since this film is really a sequel. OP please correct me if I am wrong.

I'm trying to figure out how to take my DS6 and not my two dd's...yes, he's only 6, and doesn't watch scary movies. But he LOVES Tim Burton. Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline are two of his favorite movies.
We might just have to wait for the DVD!

Having seen the movie last night, I think 10 and up is a little overdoing it....

There are some action-y sequences, but no bloodshed, no swearing... I think 8 and up would be a bit more in line. 6 and up if they are a mature 6 and can sit through a 2 hour movie. While it is Tim Burton, I thought it was more "Edwards Scissorhands" dark and less "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" dark, if that makes sense.

All that said, I thought it was EXCELLENT! I would totally see it in the theatre again.

we are going tonight. My girls are 5 and 7. Will report back after seeing it, we are all excited. We saw 3-d preivews at Gforce (I think or maybe the xmas carol) looked fabulous.

And really, people think from the television previews the queen is that scary that a 10 year old couldn't see it? I guess if they have never seen anything remotely scary, but they just look like zany characters to me.

Can't wait to see it. We are going monday. I love Tim Burton movies and of course I LOVE Johnny. :lovestruc

We were hoping to see it this weekend but DD9 has come down with strep. Blech!

I'm not 100% convinced yet, but I think we'll be taking both kids (DD is 9 1/2 and DS will be 6 next month). I'll be checking back here to see what other people say.

we are going tonight, not taking the kids (to much complaining) and I soo want the limited edition pin they released for the film. I may just have to break down and order it!
