We need to find the function.

Anyone help us? He got all the other problems, we're just stuck on this one...Thanks.....

Some help to solve these in the future.

You know that it's a linear function since the difference in the terms is a constant for each step (x goes down by 3 for ever 2 that y goes down).

Therefore, you can put your points into the point-slope form of the equation

(y-y1) = m(x-x1) where m is the slope between two points and (x1,y1) is one of your points

In this case, we can use the first two points (4,3) and (1,1) to find the slope:

The slope = (y1-y2)/(x1-x2) = (3-1)/(4-1) = 2/3

If the first point can then be used for (x1,y1)

Therefore,

y-3 = 2/3 (x-4)
y-3 = 2/3 x - 4 (2/3)
y-3 = 2/3 x - 8/3
y = 2/3 x - 8/3 + 3
y = 2/3 x - 8/3 + 9/3
y = 2/3 x + 1/3

I clicked on this thread just to torture myself and it worked I had absolutely no idea what the heck that question meant. Good thing DH is the smart math person in the house. He'll be teaching DD when it comes to it.
