Rick set the alarm for 8.30am, but we were awake by 7.45am. Washed, dressed and having breakfast when the alarm went off. Bags were all packed and ready for bell services to collect them.
As usual, we had decided to use the Disneys Westside early check-in facility which opens at 8.30am. Even though Virgin now charge $10.00 per person, this gives us the rest of the final day, back to us. Check-in went extremely well, and within 15 minutes, we had boarding passes, the bags had been weighed and stickered as heavy, and we were on their way.
The usual routine for us is to have Ghiradellis ice cream at Downtown Disney. Today was no different A Domingo for me and a Cable Car for Rick.
Next on the plan is usually crazy golf, but Ricks ankle was still sore. They stopped by the AMC theatre to see if there was any films playing early that we would want to see, but there was nothing that interested us.
Rick said he could manage a round of crazy golf at Disneys Winter Summerland though as the course was all flat. For the first time in ages, I won and even beat the course record for the day. I received a certificate as a reward.
With Ricks ankle swollen and sore, we agreed that we should take a slow drive down the 192, stop for some lunch and then continue onto the airport. We had to be at the gate by 3-3.30pm. Before we flew to Florida, Applebees was recommended to us, and as there was one near the 535/192 junction we headed for this one. We had the mozzarella sticks to share as a starter and then both had the bacon cheese burger as their entree. No dessert as by this time we were stuffed.
The drive to the airport only took about 20 mins, but when we handed back the car we found that we had been charged for the car again, so we had to go to the rental desk to sort this out. When they entered the main terminal building, I realised that a bottle of liquor that we had purchased in St Martin should have been packed in our check-in luggage and not in our carry on bags. This meant that we would have to dispose of it along with the water before we went through the security checks. As the lady at Budget was so helpful and go the overcharge sorted out, she received an early thanksgiving present.
Once through the security checks which was very quick and efficient, we made themselves comfortable in the lounge by the gates to wait for our plane to land and to be called for boarding. I had my usual Starbucks Coffee, whilst Rick made do with water.
Hot Lips landed on time at 4.15pm, but we had to wait till 5.40pm to board. This, of course, meant that the flight was late leaving. In fact it took off 20 mins late. The flight was quite bumpy but was very quick and it took just 7hrs. We had quite a nice evening meal I had baked salmon and Rick had the chicken. Breakfast was served 90 mins before we landed which was hot for a change, either egg & cheese bagel or ham, egg and cheese muffin.
Rick and I were one of the first off the plane and through passport control really quickly. 3 out of the 4 cases came through really quickly but the fourth case took ages. Marion cabs with Dave the co-owner was waiting for us and as there was no one at Customs (H hates this point as it always make us feel guilty), we were home within the hour. The plan was to stay up as long as possible and try and get the body clocks back to normal Rick succumbed and took a nap in the afternoon, but I managed to stay awake until 9.00pm. We finally turned out the lights at 9.30pm and slept for a full 12 hours.
