Alfredo's or somewhere else?

We'll be on our Disney Wedding/Honeymoon trip here in less than a month and I already made my ADR's. I'm curious if Alfredo's is a good choice or if there is another place for dinner at Epcot that would be more suitable. I will make sure to cancel my ADR if I change from Alfredo's to somewhere else for fear of being flamed. :thumbsup2 :wave2:

I really HATE Alfredo's. The servers are snobby and the food was overpriced and not very good. I would try anywhere else and I'm sure it would be better.

Have a great honeymoon!

I would go somewhere else. Myself, I love the Olive Garden type Italian food. The authentic stuff left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the night. YUK. And it was REALLY loud so we could hardly hear what the person across the table was saying to us. The atmosphere was nice, and the waiters were all attentive and very authentic, but the food...not so good and not worth the money.

We love Alfredo's. But, we try to go to a late lunch or a late dinner to avoid the crowds. We also usually order a bottle of wine, which makes the waiters happy. I think some of the Italian waiters don't understand the American style of dining. Rush in, eat something quick and rush back out. We go for a late leisurely lunch and always have excellent service. My DH is Italian and gets on famously with the staff.

We really like the Alfredo pasta. It's not a thick gummy white sauce like at the Italian chain restaurants. It is just butter and cheese on fresh pasta and delicious. My mouth is watering as I write this. The calamari is also wonderful as is the tiramisu. The restaurant prides itself on the wine list and has a nice selection of Italian reds. We had an amarone there once that we still talk about.

We had a great waitress on one visit, "Cinzia" who was so cute with the boys. She taught them some Italian, posed for pictures and was just so charming (we didn't order wine that day, by the way).

Because of all the bad reviews, I cancelled Alfredo's and made reservations at Mama Melrose. I love Italian Food, and I do not want to be disappionted. I have heard nice reviews :cool1: about Mama's. If the food is half as good as Boston's North End, I will be happy.

Yikes....I wish I had posted earlier..

I loved Alfredo's, we had the best time there for dinner, entertainment, good food, and I had no problem with the server...he was attentive and fast. I liked that.

I was not thrilled with Mama Melrose, I thought it was generic Italian food...I am Italian and like good Italian food if I am going to order it out.

Originally from Boston so I know what you are talking about when you talk about the North End.....I think Alfredo's is like the restaurants in the North End..

Le Cellier is much better. Chefs de France would make for a nice Honeymmon meal. I don't like Alfredos. Food is just ok, servers are below average, and management stinks.

Alfredo's or somewhere else? How about anywhere else.

Try Bistro de Paris or le Cellier for nice meals. Other good choices include Rose & Crown and Teppenyaki.

Alfredo's is our favorite in all of WDW. It is different from the Olive Garden type of Italian food. If you are partial of the OG style of of Italian cooking, Fredo's may not be for you. I would also vote for and early or late lunch at Alfredo's.:earsboy:

Sorry I just saw this post~Alfredo's has it ALL OVER MM. I vote for you to change it back, you get a much more authentic Italian cuisine at Alfredo's and it feels more like Italy rather then Little Italy in NYC.

I happen to love Alfredo's. Great food, and great entertainment. Italian music fills the air, it's such an authentic atmosphere. A little more "romantic" would be Chefs de France. I hear it's phenomenal, the 3 chefs that work there are like the most famous french chefs ever. But I'm not a french food fan so I've never tried it. I will tell you this about Alfredo's-the tables are VERY close together, you may feel a bit smushed. But I might just feel that way cuz everytime I go, it's with like 8 people! Good luck and congrats!

I'm italian too which is why I think Mama Melrose is just horrible. I love Alfredo's though, I go to Arthur Ave (in the Bronx, NY) quite often and I would say Alfredo's comes close (although it's different regional italian food). I've been to the North End in Boston too...there's a restaurant there that bears my last name so of course we ate there, the food was sooo good! Sorry, that was a bit :offtopic: but I had to throw that in there!

Thanks for the advice but we are going to try Mama's over Alfredo's. We are all so lucky that we can enjoy the restaurants at Disney World. When we come back from this 20th Wedding Anniversity Trip (No Kids) :cool1: I will write up a dining report. The first stop is LeCellier, then Mama Melrose, Cape May and then 50 Prime Time. We will do CS, at Pecos Bill, Cantina San Angel, Hanna's etc.... We are also going to Mickey's Halloween Party ......

Well, I was going to say we enjoyed Alfredo's, but I guess I am also too late. I tried the sampler platter and the Dumplings were delicious. And when he brought out the desset tray to choose, it was so hard. Plus I thought it was a beautiful restaurant.

Saw you were going to the 50's. You will love that. If you have time, the Sci-Fi is cool. Plus I remember seeing a couple sitting in the back seat of one of the car tables watching the movie clips. Thought it looked very romantic!

Congratulations!

Alfredo's is excellent authentic Italian food, and those who like that kind of food usually love the food there. Those that like Americanised (like Olive Garden) type Italian food don't like it too much.

This is usually a must go place for us every time. We always go for lunch, and sit outside. The waiters are always excellent, especially if you have a go at asking for things in Italian. Bear in mind though that they are Italian, not American. American waiters are pretty unique, and often go way over the top in an effort to get tips. If you think of it for what it's meant to be, a visit to a tiny bit of Italy with some Disney magic thrown in, it'll be much more enjoyable ;)

We love Alfredo's so much that we booked 2 ADR's there on our next trip. We are Italian and have always had a great time here. The place is so pretty and the staff so friendly. The lasagna is the best, as is the Pasta Fagioli, fresh mozzerella and the pasta with shrimp. I never ate at Mamma Melrose, so I can't comment on that place.
