Where are you getting onto I-49 at? I'm assuming you'll be on it coming thru Shreveport? If so, I suggest stopping in Natchitoches. It's either exit 138 or 139. But there will be plenty of signs. Takae the exit ramp to the right and you have Jett Stop on the left and another station on the right.

Take a left and go under the interstate and there's a couple of stations on the right.

All are just off the interstate.

Natchitoches is 45 minutes south of Shreveport and Alexandria is about 1 hour further.

how bout exit 113 of course looking for places via the net, theres a truck stop called big ums, is it decent?

its basicly a potty/gas stop

i'll be gassin up in mesquite tx, and alexandria is right at my cutoff time that i like...

I'm not familliar with that area very much. I do know that exit 90 is just as you get into Alex ( pronounced Alec Alexandria). So, if you're thinking of 113, that's got to be a ways out still. The ones I told you about in Natchitoches are within site of the interstate and very easy off and on. Well lit too. I travel I-49 to Shreveport often and feel very secure with the area. Some places in Alex I would not be comfortable stopping at that time of night.

There are a few places just south of Alexandria, right off the interstate. If you need to stop before you get to Alexandria there are a few exits right before you get into Alexandria, proper. There is an exit with a Cracker Barrel Family Restraunt. I am not sure of the exit numbers. I grew up in Alex, but I live in Baton Rouge now. I would not stop at any of the exits in Alexandria (proper) at 3:00 am. The interstate goes through the downtown portion of Alexandria and there aren't too many places for a potty break. Most of I-49 through La. is pretty rural, the truck stops on the interstate are pretty safe. South of Alexandria, before you get to Lafayette is fairly new, so most of the truck stops are newer. I travel alone with my dds from Baton Rouge to Alexandria and wouldn't hesitate to stop at any of them. Sorry I don't have any exit numbers for you. Happy driving!

The worst thing about I-49 is that lack of stops along the way. You can go a long way without any place to stop. I think between Alexandria and Natchitoches there is abolutely zero stops. And between Natchotoches and Shreveport, there isn't much either. Shreveport is about exit 202. Alex is about exit 80. Natchitoches is about halfway between. As you get closer to Lafayette, there are more exits.

There is an exit at Alex that has a McDonalds, Burger King, Texaco (with excellent BBQ inside), La Quinta, so that would be my exit of choice. Once you actually get into Alex, there isn't really much close to the interstate. You have to drive into town.
