100% UNTRUE. This misinformation pops up in almost all the Aldi's threads. One brother owns Trader Joes one brother owns Aldi. For some things they do use the same supplier but they are not the same company & they are not a family business.

We are a new market for Aldi, but so far, so great!! Cant believe all the stuff we can get for so little.

Love the cheeses and Aldi has really helped my low carb budget.

The spaghetti is pretty good too!! I used to buy alot of items at Sam's, Costco, but Im tired of spending $300 a trip. Aldi is great, small in and out!!

I've had good luck with the apples and sure beats paying $8 a bag at Sams club and I have had hit or miss produce from there also.

I love their fit and active turkey meatballs. I usually make my own but grabbed a bag one day when I was running late and they are really good. I also love their prices on cheese, milk, and baking supplies.

Oh we LOVE Aldi's. It helps my family of 2 adults and 5 eating kids but one baby I buy diapers for from there

I agree hands down we buy milk, chocolate milk, coffee creamer, yoghurt tubes, cheese, eggs there brownies are better than Duncan Hines brownie mix. Cake mixes, cereal, snack items.

French toast sticks, they have this huge bag of microwave pancakes that taste way better than name brand pancakes. I am able to give my kids fresh produce becasue I can buy a bag of oranges, apples, and grapes often time for less than 1.99. I love all of there chips I agree the restaurant style of tortilla chips and there brand of guacumole is great. THey have these chicken fries and chicken nuggets that taste great. We also like there hashbrowns, bacon, orange juice can you tell I can go and on. The only thing that I did not like were some flavored rice for that I have to buy a case of Knorr from Sam's. Hands down it is a budget saver for our big family!!

We love Aldi! I shop there just about every week. If you are packing lunches, this store is a life saver! We buy applesauce, raisins, granola bars, yogurt, fruit snacks, peanut butter crackers, juice pouches-all for a fraction of the cost! I buy most of my groceries there. These are the only things we have bought from Aldi and not liked: barbecue chips, pork tenderloin, hot dogs, and their brand of peanut butter. Everything else has been wonderful!

we go to aldi every week, and always buy milk, lettuce and chips there. DH LOVES their store brand chips (clancy's). the only thing we've ever bought from aldi that we wouldn't buy again was the toaster pastries (pop tarts)...they stuck together inside the wrapper and broke all to pieces when i tried to separate them. every packet in the box was like that.

Definitely bring your own bags. You have to bag your own stuff and have to buy the bags if you didn't bring your own. You will need a quarter for the cart, you get it back when you return it.

For aldi's we like their produce, bacon, eggs , juice, milk, cereal, snacks.

Aldis is not good for meat or specialty items (whole wheat items)

You most likely won't be able to get everything on your list. They are rather limited.

I disagree about the meats, at least some of the beef products. Alsis sells wonderful bacon wrapped filets. They are $1.79 each here and are individually packaged, so you can throw them in the freezer easily then pull them out to use on the grill when you want them. I also buy all my stew meat there, and my hamburger.

I go there once a week in addition to getting other things at Stop & Shop. Most of the things I buy were already mentioned but here are a few more that my family enjoys:

Fit & Active "Flying Saucers" (I know that is a Carvel term but I forgot what they are really called)

I love shopping at Aldi's

We purchase the following on a regular basis (and then we purchase the "special' items, like roasted peppers on Italian week)

Chips: tortilla, baked, ranch style ones like dorito's my kids love)
Cheese that is the generic for velveeta and the tomato cans that are the generic rotel.

100 calorie packs - we have tried the cookie ones and the little marshmellow rice crisps

Staples like peanut butter, spray oil, olive oil. EVOO, canola oil, sugar, flour, spices etc. Now I do make sure that our other stores are not having a great sale, but it is great to know if you need something the price will not be out of the world.

Sour cream, orange juice, packages of romaine hearts, turkey bacon, and turkey ham.

Now I try to stay away from frozen, most are very highly processed, but they have a fit and lively brand that some items are just wonderful. They have a chicken stock that I always have tons at home to use, multigrain waffles, turkey burgers, and many different crackers and items. I spend a long time reading labels, but most of these items are good and safe.

I only buy the produce if I am using it that day or freezing it. Like peppers. They get wicked expensive around her. At Aldi's if you purchase them, and then julienne them and freeze them you are set.

I could go on and on, but I will stop here.

LOVE... fit and healthy whole wheat pasta, the best and only a buck.....We also love their white(skim) and chocolate milk.

Things I buy weekly are eggs, sour cream, oj, salad mixes, cheese(either bag or block), zucchini, mushrooms, pretzels, frozen hash browns(to make casserole), italian white bread. Also their spiral hams are excellant, have one every Christmas. Like their zip lock bags. Have never tried their meat, as we have a butcher we usually buy from and are not big meat eaters. Canned cream of chicken soup. Produce can be a bit hit or miss, but we find it more of a hit than a miss.

We are regular Aldi shoppers. Only 12 more days until our old, rundown, crappy Aldi closes and the brand spanking new Aldi opens right by us

We've only found a few things that we haven't liked at Aldi:

Cereal
Canned veggies (except corn, which is always delicious)
Toliet Paper
Light and Fit frozen waffles, but the Eggo type are great
Hot Dogs (the all beef ones are very good though)
Soda Pop (the cola was nasty tasting to me)
Frozen hamburger patties

Does anyone with food allergies shop at Aldi?

We have allergies here.

If Aldi is related to Trader Joes, that's not good news for us. Trader Joes shows up frequently on recall lists for mislabeling and cross contamination. (Not the sort of thing that would be a problem for anyone except those with allergies.)

I wish I would have read this before I went to Aldi today. I am seeing something I forgot. I shop there every other week and get most of my groceries there. I also like the fit and active brand, they almost always have the best price on milk. We had a meal of almost all Aldi's food tonight

Went the other day,and scored a ton! Big morning fruit eaters here-I bought 3 pineapples,3 pints of blueberries,4 quarts of strawberries,two bags of navel oranges,a bag of bananas,a bag of granny smith apples, a head of lettuce,two packages of sliced swiss cheese,two pounds of green grapes,and a loaf of wheat bread.Total was 40.00!!! IMO, one of the biggest bargains at Aldi's is their feminine pads/panty liners. $1.79 a pack vs. almost $5 for the same size Kotex.

I stopped in Aldi with a friend just the other day. She got a gallon of milk, eggs, a bag of oranges, and something else I can't remember. She was so surprised that her total was just under $5. She could not stop talking about it! She'll be shopping there much more often now!
