Could anyone tell me the laws for selling alcohol within Disney. I assume the hotels are as per any other hotel in the world and can you buy bottles of wine, beer etc from any shops in the resorts to have a drink in your hotel room. We are booked to stay in the AKL

Many thanks

I don't know the laws, but yes you can purcahse bottles of beer in the resort store.

All of the resort stores sell beer and wine. Some of the selections are not very good and the prices are much higher than you would pay in a store off sight.

My husband and I usually pick up beer & wine off site to have during our stay.

Most of the resort gift shops sell individual bottles/cans of beer, and some sell bottles of wine.

I know the resorts sell beer in their gift shops, they may have wine, I do not recall. The AKL also has a lounge and a pool bar.

Is there anything you're looking for specifically? Each resort has a bar, pool bar, restaurants carry drinks as well. If you're really into wine they have Wine pairing dinners (Victoria & Alberts, Jiko's Wine Pairing Dinner) and the California Grill has an incredible wine list. If you just wanna purchase a 6 pack or whatever, that is doable as well. If you're into beer, I recommend you take a stroll over to the Boardwalk Area and goto the Big River Brewery & Grille and give their Sampler a try. :3dglasses

The only place I've noticed that you cannot buy alcoholic beverages is inside the Magic Kingdom.

It's not a cruise ship, you're allowed to bring alcohol you purchase off-site or in the resort back to your room to consume. You'll certainly get a better selection and pricing if you purchase offsite, or even bring a bottle with you.

I don't think you're suppose to bring your own adult beverages to the pool area but I've seen some guests go so far as to bring a cordless blender to the pool area to mix their own beverages.

People have posted that you can buy a 6 pack of beer cheaper than one serving at the resort gift shop - as opposed to the resort pool, same for DTD. I brought wine, and did a grocery stop and bought beer for our room, no problems. I also bought a bottle of wine at the gift store for under $10, and the CM uncorked the wine no charge!

Also, do know that at the parks (like Epcot, or MGM, Fantasmic) you can only buy one beer at a time - so while dh and dd were saving our seats, I could only purchase one beer, and then go stand in line again!! (of course I was lucky when a person behind me wasnt going to purchase beer and ordered one and I bought it from her!!)

You can buy any amount of alcohol at the resort shops, ie a bottle of wine or a 6 pack, they even have small (and expensive) bottles of spirits behind the registers. But when I was at AKL a trip or two back we could only buy one can/bottle of beer per 21 year old at the fast food place The Mara. A bit like what Eeyore45 was saying about the parks.

The beer selection at The Mara included some African beers, which my DH was very happy about. Think about packing a bottle opener and/or a corkscrew, that way you wont get all the way to your room and think, how on earth am I going to open this? Not all beer bottles have twist offs, it doesn't seem to be a feature on non-US beers.
