I wasn't sure where to post this. The budget board did not seem geared towards WDW. Anyway, we are not big drinkers but do enjoy a couple of cocktails with dinner...how much would you budget for alcohol for 2 adults on a week's trip?

I would budget for $10 per drink and then try to estimate how many drinks you will consume.

Hmm, those can get a bit expensive.
Cocktails are usually between $8 and 15 a piece plus tip if you are at a bar, so to do 2 per adult per day I would bank on at least $50 a day.

For a 5 day trip I have coming up - my husband & I have $200 for alcohol outside of meals.

Most cocktails drinks are roughly $10 give or take
Glasses of wine can range from $6.50 to $22 depending on what you drink.
Beer is from $5 to $9 ish

Well, I try not to think about it. I lump drinks into my "other expenses" category (other being pretty much everything that isn't hotel, tickets, airfare and food/tips). My strategy, which hasn't failed me yet, is to save my money for all of those things, and then save way more than I need for everything else. I try to make it so that I have so much money for our trips that I even come back with a lot.

If you think this is going to be tough to do in the time alotted, then I recommend drinking as little as possible. Drinks in WDW are ridiculously overpriced. I'll pay the premium for the fun, but not if it's going to put me out.

We budget (for two people) $50 a day for adult drinks. That's about a bottle of wine at dinner or so, but we often go over some nights and don't drink other nights. We've found the wine at the resorts to be pretty fairly priced if you opt for bottles and will sometimes share a bottle in the room.

I also think we may drink a bit more than most people... we are both still in college. :-)

Where can you buy alcohol in Florida? Here in Calif. we can buy wine etc in grocery stores. I thought of picking up a couple bottles of wine to have on the balcony when the kids are asleep.

In Florida, you can buy wine and beer in any grocery store or convenience store, but you can only buy liquor in liquor stores.

We get groceries delivered by Garden Grocer and they will deliver beer and/or wine with your groceries. They don't have the beer/wine on their order form. You have to type it in and be specific about quantity/brand. You have to fax an ID to show you're over 21. We get beers in cans so we can bring them to the pool area when we're relaxing at the resort. It's a lot cheaper to do that than to order beer at the pool bar.

I budget most of my drinking for the World Showcase in Epcot, estimating $10/drink (sometimes it's less).

Thanks for the replies. If I can buy some wine and beer then I can just budget for a few scattered must have cocktails. That will help keep the costs down yet still feel like a vacation.

We take a towncar from the airport just to make a liquor store stop. We find the martinis on our balcony (we pack our glasses and shaker in our luggage) are better than the drinks we are paying a fortune for.

There is a Hess gas station/ convenience store on property with a fairly good selection of beer and wine. (You can walk from some Epcot area resorts, but a quick cab ride is easier) This saves a LOT of money.

The local liquor stores are mostly "ABC's" I think. Google maps can help you with that, or again... any cab driver will know the way.

Honestly the wine in the gift shops isn't terribly expensive for bottles of wine, we paid $13 for a bottle we can get for $9 here, but it used to cost $11-12 when we lived on the East Coast (it's a Washington State wine).

we ordered beer from WeGoShop (I had asked for Sam Adams anything was fine - esp if they had a seasonal beer available - they did - dh was thrilled!! Beer in a Disney Gift shop is $6+ per BOTTLE!! Wine wasnt that big of a difference - I did order a bottle of wine from WeGoShop - I knew they would go to any grocery story and I heard publix had their ads online - so I picked a wine that was on sale and ordered that!! worked out great for us!!)

ITA that we spent about $10 - $15 per drink on adult beverages- Epcot we wanted a slushie, a champagne, a welsh dragon, Guiness... so we just budgeted for those drinks!
