DH and I are Alaskan cruising in August for our honeymoon/anniversary. There’s so many excursions-I want to do them all!!!

I know that if we allow approximately an hour in between it’s possible to do 2 in the same day. But…realistically….

I have narrowed it down to 2 for each port.

Skagway-
Alaska Nature & wildlife expedition SW38
All aboard steam train SW11
Juneau-
Alaskan salmon bake, glacier & hatchery JU07
Alaskan whales & glaciers photo safari JU57
Ketchikan
Black bear & wildlife exploration KE12
By the sea wildlife & sightseeing cruise KE12

Any suggestions?
TIA

In Juneau I recommend the photo safari, but keep an eye on it. We actually didn’t get to go on this excursion because we were the only ones booked on it. We needed up on another tour with the same company and they were amazing.

Are they still making it so that folks can only go on Disney excursions? We booked a Green Jeep in Skagway and it was such a lovely and inexpensive way to create our own private tour. If you can book your own tours, we did a whale watch tour with on the Scania in Juneau and unlike the big group tour boats, we were the only family onboard. August is a great time to see Black Bears so I would keep that one for sure, we went in May-June and didn't get to see any in Ketchikan because it was too early. But by far, my favorite tour is one that is not on your list, the Glacier Explorer tour in Tracy Arm. It can only be booked through DCL and it was worth every penny.

If you have anyone unvaccinated in your party (i.e., at present, children under 5, though that may change by this summer) you do have to take a DCL excursion. Fully vaccinated people can book independently.

I'd vote for train in Skagway, Salmon bake/glacier in Juneau, and either one in ketchikan. Since you are doing a wildlife tour in Ketchikan, makes sense to do to the non-wildlife focused ones in the other two ports for variety.

P.S. I think you mean DW (dear wife) or DH (dear husband)--I should you you don't mean you are on your honeymoon with your DD (dear daughter)!

Realistically, I wouldn't do 2 excursions in a port. You should leave some time for just walking about on your own.

For me I'd pick
Steam train in Skagway
Salmon bake in Juneau
sea life sightseeing in Ketchikan

However, for a more varied grouping:
Alaska Nature & wildlife expedition SW38
Alaskan salmon bake, glacier & hatchery JU07
By the sea wildlife & sightseeing cruise KE12

Ugh… yes. DH….just did Christmas at “the World” with the DD’s!!!

We are booked for the July 18 Alaskan cruise. We called the White Pass and Yukon Rail ourselves and booked seats. We assumed as first time cruisers we might not get reservations through DCL.

I feel like so much is up in the air with Alaska sailings right now. I am hoping we'll have more information soon, but one of the private tours we wanted to do is currently waitlist only due to Canadian border restrictions. I looked at the White Pass Railroad site, which many of the excursions include, and even they mention they are hoping by the season there will be something worked out for day travel to and from Canada. Just keep that in mind when planning. We sail in June so our booking date is coming up soon so I've been trying to get my ducks in a row!

One other thing to consider, the ship is in port much longer in Alaska than it is for Caribbean cruises. For some ports, you may have enough time to do two excursions depending on the scheduled times and lengths of the excursions. We're planning on doing this in Juneau and (maybe) Ketchikan because we simply can't choose!

Yes, I'm currently considering 2 in Juneau and 2 at Icy Strait. I think we'll only do one in Ketchikan...because I'm already pushing $2500 in excursions.
