Hi There!

My name is Jayme and my family and I have booked a Disney cruise from Vancouver BC to Alaska and back.

Wondering if anyone on the boards has done this or specifically been on the Disney Wonder cruise ship?

It will be myself, my hubby, our 2yr old and my parents. For those of you who have done this cruise ship or 1 similar what are your thoughts on a 2year old and how they would do on the ship with entertainment etc?

Thanks for your help!

Jayme

Welcome to the Disboards Jayme:). I have been on a lot of cruises, but not Disney. They are usually very good at accommodating children and I imagine Disney would be fantastic. They usually have activities and daily free child care, but usually this starts at age 3-5. Disney may have it for younger, and I do know they have extensive play areas for the kids.

This is the first year Disney is going to Alaska, but if you check the Disney cruise line forum I'm sure you can find out a lot about the onboard experience. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9

You can also try cruisecritic.com. They are like the Disboards for cruises and they have a Disney Cruise forum.

I was on the Wonder back in 2000. I went with my sister and BIL so no kids. I did check out the childrens play area-looked like fun. They start at 3 yrs so your child is too young to go for the free play area. I know they offer a paid service for children under 3, I didn't see that area.

The ship is lots of fun. It has 3 pools for guests. There is a movie theatre and a different show on stage each night.

We stayed for 4 nights and it seemed so short. I definately wouldn't want to do a 3 night stay.

Hey there! We went on a 3-night cruse on the Wonder in 2009, and are going again on the Mexican Riviera in March!

Your 2 yr old will be too young for the Oceaneer Club, so he will have to be in Flounders nursery. However, I do believe you can take him to check out the Club as long as you stay with him (but you may not want to do that as there may be some resistance when time to go!) All the stage shows are Disney themed entertainment with lots of characters, so how well he would do sitting in a theatre would depend, all kids are different, same thing with the character photo ops.

Hope you have a great Alaska cruise!!
