I heard that DCL will be offering Alaskan cruises. When will this be starting? Any idea? :confused3 :confused3

This is just a rumor based on the extended survey that DCL has been asking....now I would LOVE it, but doubt it happening anytime soon.

If it stops in BC, you will need a passport, if not, you will be OK w/out.

Assuming DCL will someday put a ship in Alaska, any cruises would have to at least make a call in Canada, since both their ships are of foreign (Bahamian) registry. Non-U.S. flagged ships cannot sail exclusively between U.S. ports. The likely itinerary will have the cruises going one-way to and from Vancouver and some Alaskan port. For example, some cruises from Hawaii to L.A. make a stop in Ensenada for just a couple of hours in order to comply with this law (the Passenger Services Act or Jones Act, I can't remember which is which).

At any rate, DCL is booking both of their ships out of Port Canaveral for all of next year, so the earliest a DCL Alaska cruise could happen would be in Summer of 2007. I would guess that this would really have to wait until they have a third ship in service, and the clock is running out for that to happen by the end of summer 2007.

Good catch ChrizJen :flower:

:rotfl2: Glad someone noticed...... Stuart posted when the 2013 rates would be out, so I replied that DCL would have 10 ships by then & would be sailing from Seattle to Alaska. I PM'd him asking how long until someone posted when the Alaskan cruises start... so he thought he would beat everyone to it... :teeth:

I see! ::yes:: I was wondering what prompted him to ask! :rotfl:

Actually, with DVC you can book an Alaskan cruise !!! :cool1:

No kidding ! :goodvibes

I heard from a very reliable source that one of the Captains of one of the ships monitors the DIS. So, if you really want Alaska...keep posting someone from Disney is lurking out there. I too am waiting for an Alaska cruise. If Disney doesn't do one by 2009 I'll have to go on another line. At least I have 4 years for them to bring out another ship.

The engineer on our cruise said that physically the Magic is able to sail to Alaska there are just a lot of environmental things that all ships sailing up there must meet.

Isn't there a 6 day cruise next month. Maybe they'll announce something big on that Sat.

That Saturday they'll be too busy hosting a bunch of celebrities (like Johnny Depp, sigh) for a Make A Wish fundraiser being hosted on the ship that night.
