Alaskan cruise in July 2014

My Mom and her boyfriend are taking a cruise to Alaska and I just read that they have to book Entertainment prior to their cruise? I text her and she had no clue. What exactly needs to be booked?

Perhaps you are confusing Entertainment with the option to reserve Excursions ahead.....or speciality dining. These are options, not a forced march.

I suggest if they have questions, go on over to Cruise Critic and check out Roll Call. It's a thread for each individual cruise. You can get to know some really nice people on the sailing ahead of time and get answers to many questions.

Remind them to sign up for the Meet and Mingle. Royal Caribbean hosts a gathering for it's Roll Call guests early in the cruise. Cruise Director and staff attend, nibbles, non alcohol beverages and door prizes. Great way to meet people you have chatted with online.

You read it as "drudgery, must book entertainment", and I read it as "you have to book the entertainment before you board".

Yes you should book things like the ice skating show before you board. That makes it easier for you to get to see what you want to see.

Alas, since we don't know what ship they are on, it's hard to know what there is to be booked!
