Alaskaa May Cruise

To clarify.... is your objective to see...
  • snow on the glaciers?
  • snow in port
  • falling show around the Wonder?

Snow on the ground, mountain where ever. We live in the south and don't get snow and our girls would love to see some.

We sailed at the end of May, and yes, we did see snow.

At your bonus port....
  • in the rare year, so can be found on Grouse in JULY if the Spring stays cool.
  • if you make a day trip to Whistler and go on the Peak 2 Peak tram.... Queen Elsa makes a little of the white stuff outside the chalets overnight.

It will vary. My first Alaska cruise was in June and we had plenty of snow in skagway/Canada. We took a bus tour that went into Canada and we got out a few times - plenty of snow.

Next cruise was at end of May and there wasn't much snow that time. There was still plenty to see from afar, but to actually be in it and touch it, there just wasn't anything left.

Instead of flying direct into Vancouver... consider flying into Calgary and get a Banff bus tour into Vancouver. I also remember travelling through Banff in mid-July and saw falling snow one year. The tours will often also take you to the Columbia glacier.

I don't know how the winter has been in southeast Alaska this year, but we've had way above average amounts of snow in the US Northwest.

It all depends on the year. How much fell during the winter, and how quickly is it melting in the spring?
