Lovely! :) Thanks so much for sharing. More if you have them would be good!! I'd love to cruise to Alaska. One day, I guess!!;)

thanks for posting!!
Going next month and really want to make sure I have my settings correct....once in a lifetime thing you know.....

Not to take over your thread but.....anybody have thoughts on settings for Glaciers?

Great job on your Alaska pictures! The scenery is so beautiful, and you captured it flawlessly with your camera! Plus, you were lucky enough to catch a whale breeching, too! Awesome!

Do you have any pictures of inside the ship?

Thanks for the compliments, I think the pics improved as I got more used to the camera.

We are 1 week away from our Wonder Alaska cruise. Loving the whale shot. Can you share what excursion you where on for this shot? Also, is this shot heavily cropped? Was this taken from the allowed viewing distance or did the whale swim on in towards you?

I am debating lenses to take particular for this part of the trip. We are on small, private boat with 6 people total. Any info you can share is appreciated.

Thanks,

Chuck

We did the Rain Forest Trails and Whale Watching with Gastineau tours. HIGHLY reccommend them they were awesome. And that whale pic isnt cropped at all. The whales swam around in the area while we were there I was at full telephoto on the 18- 200 lens though. We always stayed in our proper viewing distance. There was a man that was on our tour and he had two very expensive looking outfits with LONG lenses. But he spent so much time deciding which camer to use for which shot he missed many of them.

Thanks for the information. We are booked with Harv and Marv. We booked all six slots so it is a private tours. Much better than fighting people for rail time.

Your advice is wise. You can fiddle with gear and miss a great photo op. I plan to take a 400mm zoom on one camera and 200mm on another. My sharper lens is the 200mm so it is great to hear that may be enough reach. I do not like to juggle gear and plan to select a outfit on board and focus on shooting.

Best wishes and please share more picts if you got them.

Chuck

Here are a few from the evening shows. We didnt go to all of them. Some of these have been auto fixed and cropped slightly.

Those are great. I would so love to take an Alaskan cruise some day. :goodvibes

We took an Alaskan cruise in 2009, then rode around in an RV for 2 1/2 weeks. Seeing your pics makes me want to go back! Thanks for sharing.

Your glacier and wildlife shots are my favorite! DH is trying to talk me into a cruise since prices have dropped (not Disney's!!!) so we may end up going in the next couple years. We spent 5 days in Seattle in 2009 and I loved it too!
