The great: 24-7 dining, the ice cream sandwiches, the drink package, using the app for room service. The ports. Balcony room with split beds!

The good: the food overall (about the same as DCL), the decor, the feel (did not feel over crowded), easy on and off.

What I missed: rotational dining with same staff, getting to know stateroom host (ours never seemed to know when we would be out despite turning on the "service room" light), different meeting points for excursions (everyone met in the theater and it took FOREVER).

What DD missed: entertainment (she went once but wasn't interested in anything else), kids club (but she is too old now anyway), rotational dining with same staff.

For my money I would be fine on Princess but she said DCL is the only way for her. As long as she wants to travel with me we'll probably not cruise again for awhile. Even though I'm already aching for another.

PS: I was very worried about the casino. The only time I saw it was when we were being marched out for the excursion. It was so tiny!

Was the itinerary different than DCL? We tried to book Princess Alaska a couple times because the itinerary seemed different. It was a one way cruise. I've been to Alaska twice in DCL. We took a weekend Princess cruise about a year before COVID hit and I have to say, we loved the food and the ship. It was definitely different. Food was bettter on Princess, but entertainment was subpar.

We have done Alaska on the wonder a few years ago. Whije it was a great trip if I did Alaska again it would be on princess. I want to do a one way cruise where you get into glacier bay and at the end or beginning depending on the itinerary, you can get to Denali and mt McKinley.
