Alaska on July 19th, 2011 "Where a good tan is hard to find"

Hope you all had a great cruise. Jumping on your thread quickly to see if anyone has Navigators to share? I'm only finding early versions and would like to see something more up-to-date. We cruise in 2 weeks!

Cheers!

Jennifer

Sorry I did not keep all of them...maybe one....also did not copy anymof them....they were not that exciting this time around. I think that may be because we had a lot of time in ports and Tracy Arm everyone spent all the time on Deck or in their Verandahs...I know I did not do much on the ship on
port days. Have an awesome cruise...pictures do it no justice...hope you have good weather as we
did and get to go through Tracy Arm:

Some cruises could not. We showed rain for everyday but instead the weather was great....it will be a cruise you will never fotget:thumbsup2

I LOVE my bracelet!! Thank you!! My daughter and I wore them every day, and we still will enjoy wearing them.
Glad you liked the FE gifts. They were fun to create. :)

Me to...it was beautiful....I say was because it broke all over my cabin floor...my boys helped me pick up every piece and I will be putting it back together....it was perfect!

I don't know if anyone noticed, but, the cruise before us did not go to Tracy Arm and the cruise after us did not go to Tracy Arm.

I'd say we hit it pretty good.

I knew about the week before but not the week after...the dAy was perfect....we really lucked out. Even in Ketchikan where it rains everyday we had great weather...2days prior sailing it said 40 to 60% chance of rain at our ports....yes we were blessed!

Thank you for the thoughtful FE gifts! We had a great cruise. It furthered our interest in going to the main part of Alaska next time. We didn't book another cruise though - not sure when we'll be able to go.

We are going to the new Hawaii Vacation Club Resort in March. Looking forward to that! Anyone else going there?

We are DVC members and that is where DH wants to use our points next....so maybe this summer we will just have to check it out.

lots of cast members said that we were the second closest to the glacier out of all the cruise disney has done in alaska! the first being the inaugural voyage! But still we were really close!

This is a video from the helicopter ride back from Mendenhall Glacier, it was from my blackberry, the ride back was shorter. The ride up was nice, he took us over mountains and a tour before landing. Beautiful day for it.

Awesome video! Quick question, was it COLD on the glacier? We are booked on the dogsledding on the glacier, and I want to pack a winter coat. Everyone tells me I'm crazy, that long sleeves and a sweatshirt will be fine. Please enlighten me. I know cold is relative, but what would you guess for the air temp on the glacier?

Hi all, I finally have a moment to myself so I can post. Amazing trip, definitely up in our top 3 & the best Disney cruise we've ever been on. I've enjoyed reading all your experiences & you tube videos. It's great that while we all had a fantastic time on the cruise, everyone's experience is different.

Thanks so much to Tisza for making our door sign! It's now on our fridge @ home. :) Good to get to talk with you, Robin, the last night of the cruise. I'll be headin your way next month for Jeremy's Boot Camp Grad & a few days @ Disneyland. Maryann, I enjoyed our chat @ Palo Brunch & in the terminal when the cruise was over. Glad to hear your time in Victoria was wonderful.

Next cruise: March 27, 2012 Disney Dream 5 day Bahamas

maybe also Disney Fantasy in December 2012 7 day Western Caribbean.

Thanks for sharing Tom. Allen & I ate at that Fish & chips stand too in Ketchikan. It was pretty tasty. We also saw our Palo Server, Boris, eating there too!

Glad that you like them!! hHope they don't break, it was my first attempt at bracelet making.

REALLY?? I thought we were still a long ways out. My friend went the week before us on another line and she said they were so close they could have thrown a rock and hit it! I was disappointed, but I guess we should be!

We will be booking Aulani for DS & DFDIL's honeymoon next July. When they return home DH & I will be going to Aulani for our 35th Anniversary.

Kim, the bracelet was awesome. Thank you!

Wow were we lucky!!!! And as others have said, we were blessed with great weather. I just didn't realize how lucky we were until we returned home to hear about Tracy's Arm, one of the big highlights of the cruise.

Honestly, when I looked ahead of the ship and saw ice pieces everywhere in front of us, I was almost releaved when we turned. :scared1:

I also enjoyed our chats. :lovestruc

Does anyone know why the cruise before and after us didn't go through Tracy's Arm. Was it the ice or the weather?

I heard it was the weather...it was to cloudy...could not see.

They were taken down another place like Tracy arm however...at least that is what i was told by the captain...but don't remember the name of it,

That was an incredible cruise, I would totally love to go back to AK and do a land sea tour starting in AK. We booked a couple cruises on board, but will more than likely switch them to 2013 dates once they are released.

We were told it was due to visibility issues, the cruise after us went to Dawes Glacier on the Endicott arm.

No I hadn't heard anything about it. Did that take place this summer?

I think it happened last week while the Wonder was going thru. One of the posts in their meet thread mentioned it and they said some took video and it rocked the ship somewhat (nothing serious). There was a link to a video on weather.com taken from a smaller boat showing the calving and the smaller boat rocked quite a bit, but they did fine.

Edit to add link to Weather Channel video:
