I just bought AKV  and was curious to see if there were any other DVCer's from Alaska here. My CM told me he sold to a lot of us up here in the Last Frontier, so I was just curious...

Sorry, not from Alaska Our guide said he hasn't sold to anyone from our state yet. So maybe you are with us with a very low number. There is also the cost of airfare and the time. But going to Florida while everyone else is freezing and plowing 4 ft of snow....priceless.

Alaska DVCer over here!

We bought a VWL resale contract last year and have already taken a trip this past March with another trip planned for May 2009 (my birthday!) I'm planning to add on after we visit in May. It's hard to decide between SSR for the treehouses, the AKV for the animals or BLT for the proximity to all the action! Can't I just buy points at all of them?

I know what you mean...I will not feel bad at all when I am basking in the sun in Florida and everyone else is scraping off their windshields, LOL! :cool1:

:yay: Yay, somebody else from Alaska! I know what you mean. There are so many resorts that I would like to buy at, but it came down to which one will DH be happiest at, the answer...AKV (he is all about the animals). The funny thing is that DH thought he would hate WDW, as he doesn't care for crowds (or maybe people in general, LOL). We went on our first trip ever last December, and he ONLY came because I wanted to go so bad (he thought it was silly to go somewhere or take a vacation that did not involve hunting or fishing). Well, he fell in love with it and started nagging me from the moment we got back to start planning our next trip to WDW. He is so funny  Well, after that there was no choice but to become DVC members. I am sad though, because we will not get to take our first vacation (as DVC members)to WDW until 2010. We have to see his family in Washington this year, and already have a 3 week trip to England (to visit my mom) in 2009 (I only get so much vacation time). Oh well, I will be patiently waiting...

Yep, we are from Fairbanks and are AKV kidani members as well! Like you Belle, we have to wait until 2010 to make our first real trip home. We are planning on going every 2 years after that and may do an add on at some point. We currently have 200 points and we rented off the developer points we had because we really couldn't afford to go back so soon. The rental $$ was used to pay down the principle so it all works out for us. We really like the feel of the AKV property.

We are getting around the cost of airfare 2 ways. We use our Alaska Airlines card for everything, including daycare and all utility bills. We are definitely on target for another free round trip for our family of 4. If that doesn't pan out, we have 2 AK air cards and get 2 companion tickets to cut the cost in half essentially.

It is great to see more people from Alaska on here that are DVC enthusiasts.
:thumbsup2

I am doing the same thing, using our Alaska Airlines card for everything and saving up miles. That way when we go to WDW we will only have to pay for food and park admission (and lots of souveniers). We also have 200 points and will probably be adding more, but not for at least 5 years. We do not have any children yet, so we don't need that much space.

I am still trying to decide what to do with our developer points. I could rent them or exchenge them to II and use while I am in England. That could save us quite a bit in lodging expenses over there. I will have to see what the possibilities of getting something will be after we get our plane tickets.

Anyways, it is great to see some other Alaskans here. :yay:

If any of you have a Chase Disney Visa, we just got a flyer that allows us access to buy Lion King tickets for the Anchorage show before the general public can using a special password. How many of you fellow Alaska DVC'ers are going? :thumbsup2

We'll be there at 1pm and Sept 27th! I can see tickets looked limited already....

- since last update, we also got 100 points at BLT, so we should be set with a total of 300/year coming and only being able to really use them every other year....so 600 a trip should be fun! :wizard:

Used to live in Ketchikan and loved it up there. Now I'm in New Hampshire, and our winters are actually worse here.

You'll be able to get to Hawaii easier than me!

I just checked my mail and found the flyer--I can't believe Disney is coming to Anchorage! Might have to make a trip to Anchorage this fall...

Also, congrats on the BLT points!
