If a cruise isn't selling well, DCL may offer last minute restricted fares (*GT). If they do, it generally shows up after the Paid in Full date for any given cruise.
Justacruiser's thread does a great job of keeping track of GT rates. Alaska discounts are uncommon. There was a GT rate on the June 6 sailing this year. However, even with the GT rate a verandah cabin for two was still almost 6 grand.

Well, not really. The lower prices (GTY bookings) are on the 9D category. The other ocean view prices, while higher, would typically be higher anyway, since they are for higher categories.
