Alaska Airlines seating changes

I just checked our flights on Alaska Airlines for our August trip and one in Nov and the seating on the flights have all the center seats with an “X” “Unavailable”. And when I contacted Alaska they said it’s for the new “Social Distancing”. I also asked if our seating arrangement for 4 of us (3 seated together in 1 row and 1 on the aisle opposite the 3) if Alaska was going to changing our seating. To that they weren’t sure.

Is anyone else noticing that kind of seating change with their flights ?

I don’t have any flights booked but Canadian airlines, like Westjet, are doing that for current flights (I believe), I’m not sure about what will happen in the future.
For your 3 and 1 arrangement I think that they would likely try to space you out. My thought would be it’s safer for the people in front of you to have one less person sitting behind them as it’s one less person who might be a carrier etc. That’s just my guess!

I just checked my flights and saw the same. You could take advantage of it and change your seating to 2 and 2. I just did so we won’t have 3 in our row.

Good idea !
I’d rather pick our seats then someone else.

Delta is doing the same thing and if no one was else sitting in our row, they moved the person in the middle to the aisle seat.

Oof, I was thinking of going in October and usually fly first class (since I have miles to redeem and I go alone). I wonder if they’re doing this with the first cabin as well... that would GREATLY reduce seats which means prices would skyrocket :-/

I just switched out our 4 seats so we are now 2 and 2. You could check online now and see how the configuration is and prices. It really was strange seeing the new seating arrangements. Fingers crossed that Disneyland will be open.

I was browsing flights for this summer and noticed Frontier isn’t even flying into SNA most days of the week anymore. Seems like prices are going up and flights are reduced based on the airlines I’ve been checking. Doesn’t bode well for my summer optimism..

We are already in the mindset that things will be canceled. Hopefully Disney will reschedule our August trip as it’s a contest win

Not sure if you mean Alaska, but yes they are capping first class sales at 50% for now. You can probably find your airline's latest info on their front page or blog.

Prices won’t skyrocket if there aren’t near as many people flying...which may be the case for a while.
