Hi,

My family and I are interested in the 9-night Alaskan cruise in 2019. However, we're looking for clarification with regard to Juneau and Tracy Arm. Our TA has sent us the recently released itineraries with the following information:
2019 Disney Wonder 7-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
Departure Dates:
May 20, May 27, June 3, June 10, June 17, June 24, July 22, July 29, August 5, August 12, August 19 and September 2, 2019

Itinerary:
Day 1 Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Day 2 At Sea

Day 3 Tracy Arm, Alaska

Day 4 Skagway, Alaska

Day 5 Juneau, Alaska

Day 6 Ketchikan, Alaska

Day 7 At Sea

Day 8 Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Itinerary:
Day 1 Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Day 2 At Sea

Day 3 Icy Strait Point, Alaska

Day 4 Skagway, Alaska

Day 6 Ketchikan, Alaska

Day 7 At Sea

Day 8 Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

2019 Disney Wonder 9-Night Alaskan Cruise from Vancouver
Departure Dates:
July 8, 2019

Itinerary:
Day 1 Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

Day 2 At Sea

Day 3 Ketchikan, Alaska

Day 4 Icy Strait Point, Alaska

Day 5 Juneau, Alaska

Day 6 Hubbard Glacier, Alaska

Day 7 Sitka, Alaska

Day 8 At Sea

Day 9 Victoria (British Columbia), Canada

Day 10 Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada

On the second 7-night itinerary listed above, day 5 has been listed as Juneau/Tracy Arm, but the first 7-night itinerary just mentions Juneau, like the 9-night itinerary. So, can anyone tell me if Disney are planning to go to both on the second 7-night itinerary or is it really the same destination? If it isn't the same place, has anyone travelled to Tracy Arm from Juneau? Is it doable?

I have checked independent tour operators in Juneau and there are tours to Tracy Arm on offer, but my concern is whether DCL allows enough time for this.

Thanks in advance for reading and any clarification given :-)

Some ships spend a shortened day in Juneau and then go to Tracy Arm, and that is apparently what DCL plans on the Juneau/Tracy Arm itinerary. To do an all-day excursion from Juneau to Tracy Arm with Adventure Bound, you need to arrive in Juneau no later than 8 a.m. and depart after 6 p.m. I did this last May and it was wonderful, but you won't have time for anything else in Juneau. https://www.adventureboundalaska.com/

Both 7 day itineraries list Tracy Arm. The first one has it for day 3 by itself. The second one has it with Juneau on Day 5--they will go to both--Juneau first, then Tracy Arm--it is 'on the way' to Ketchikan. The 9 nt does not list it, but has the Hubbard Glacier instead.

Thank you, that's helpful and reassuring to know that it can be done :-)

I looked into this for our upcoming Alaska cruise, but for our cruise the Wonder comes into Juneau way too late to take advantage of it. The ship would have to arrive early in the morning to allow for a Tracy Arm excursion. So check the port times once booking opens.

They are doing this same sailing this year as well. I was looking at what the timing would be. This year they are docking in Juneau at 0645 and leaving at 1345. Then heading into Tracy Arm. The reason they are combining the two on this sailing is because this sailing is also going to Icy Straight, where the others are not.

The 7 day trips with the combined Tracy Arm/Juneau day are off my list for that reason, I want a whole day in Juneau. For the 9 day, you are going to Hubbard, so I can see why they would skip Tracy Arm

Juneau has some great port adventures going out of it. With the shorter day in Juneau you would probably not have time for many of them. We took a flight plane out to Taku Glacier Lodge from Juneau where we flew over glaciers, landed on the water next to a glacier, had a home made lunch at the lodge, and even saw bears. We loved it. I'd take a peak at Juneau port adventures for this year, and see if you'd want to skip those. Also Tracy Arm day does have a port adventure where you board a smaller boat from the Wonder and get up close to a glacier. No sure they would have the time to do this Port Adventure on a combo Juneau/Tracy Arm day. You can check out our day in Juneau to get an idea of what it was like for us and see if it interests youhttp://frequentlyaskeddisneyblog.com/disney-cruise-alaska-part-25/
