Hey y’all! I’m so sorry to bother you guys but I hate that Disney doesn’t communicate what kind of attire to bring on a crusie I try to match the characters as we have fun family photos but I’m guessing;

Sailor
Formal
Alaska

Do we have a semi formal on the 7 night?

We were in the Alaska cruise this summer. The attire is cruise casual with the exception of sea days and glacier day. The first sea day (Day 2) is optional Formal. Day 3 was our Glacier Day and was Frozen themed (no pirate night in Alaska). Last sea day (Day 7) was optional Semi-Formal.

Thanks! We try to match the character outfits too do and I hate being annoying but do you remember any big focus on Alaska pictures / backdrops outside of the one day?

The most unique character photos will be Glacier Day. Mickey will be in fishing waders, Minnie in a fur hat, Donald as a lumberjack and Goofy in a ski suit. These meet and greets are on deck 10 so most people were already bundled up due to the temp. We didn’t do backdrop photos but I do remember some of them were backdrops of the ports we stopped at, Skagway, Ketchikan, etc.

Some people also do plaid. I’m some people lol. I got by girls the cutest buffalo plaid dresses to match the plaid the characters wear. I also had nice fluffy white zip up hoodies from llbean that matched Minnie’s outfit. The key with Alaska is layers pack a little of everything. My girls also had frozen shirts that said twincess and their name on them that they wore on our last sea day which is when we did the princess meet and greet. We did formal night but by the time semi formal came around on the last night and with having to pack up we did not dress up and we were not alone in this.

The pictures from the previous poster are the ones that we had. To be honest my favorite ones were the ones with the glacier as the back drop on glacier day. The character ones inside don’t have backdrops but just a window or the window curtains on deck 4 and 5 midship. We also saw princess Minnie and daisy as a bonus it does not tell you in the app how they will be dressed so that was a super surprise since the girls were dressed as princesses some Disney magic. It was also a surprise getting back in the ship Juneau and Ketchikan some of the fab 5 were in their Alaskan outfits again. We also saw captain Minnie and Mickey outfits on the last sea day.

Oh absolutely the glacier photos are going to be the highlight but a photo package you got 7 other days to fill up :p

Also make sure you go to the magic shots they offered it at the sail away party. Some of my favorite pictures!

I cut out the twins. You have great photos.

so I'm gonna pack...

1. Nautical Outfit
2. Formal Attire - Tuxedo
3. Alaskan Outfit
4. Semi Formal Attire
5. Polos
6. Button Down
7. Shirts

It sounds silly yes but those of us who pay for the photopackage love to us it!

We took a picture with everyone wearing colorful rain slickers. Vancouver shirts in another. You might need to be wearing coats or jackets on Glacier day.

Otherwise, should make great photos. Little man will wear matching outfits?

Absolutely! I gotta get it all in now before he can tell me no :D

On formal night I just brought button up shirts and nice pants for my boys, and wore a simple slip dress, but some people went all out and were in full-on ballgowns. For glacier day it was cold on deck so we were in layers for pics with Minnie and crew. People often also dress more nicely for Palo, but it's whatever you want. We already felt like we were packing a lot with all the layers for the weather, so I didn't want to also bring special outfits for each dinner. Also note that if you have early dining, you might not always have that much time to change depending on what time you get back from your excursions.

The only thing that concerns me and I'm glad I listened to the podcast is of course you want to take pictures with all of the characters in their Alaskian attire - and if you want to do it all you need to get up there early and basically go from one line to other before they cut off the lines. So Craig said if your one of the first in lines for the character meets you should be able to get them all.

Anyone have any advise - these are MUST do character meets.

My only must-do was Minnie in her Alaskan outfit. We went to the spot designated in the navigator and lined up about 30 minutes before she even appeared on deck. By the time she appeared the line had stretched from midship to the bow. We didn't mind the wait as we had hot cocoa and a gorgeous view of the scenery passing by, but we were happy to go inside and warm up after getting through her meet relatively quickly. By that point, Mickey was also meeting on the port side but we didn't want to get in that line as it was also very backed up, but we could have. We lucked into a photo with Donald as he was walking onto the deck to head to his meeting spot, and we got one with Goofy in his Alaska gear in the concierge lounge. But of course, the latter two photos were with my camera and not the onboard pros.

Just know that if you're the type who enjoys the idea of the whole dining room being dressed up for formal night, it won't be like that. Most people will be in t-shirts. It's a huge bummer.

Yes bummer but I think the characters wear their formal attire - where did the culture of ignoring formal night come from? I thought people enjoyed cruise formal nights
