The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

In one age long ago, I posted a trip report called the 4F trip report. I received lots of lovely comments, for which I thank you all. And now, as we reach the turn of the year, I have finally found time to turn it into a video.

Those of you who read the whole trip report won't find many new pictures, but at least they are accompanied by some nice music!

It is about eight minutes long, and 115MBytes in size. The original photo trip report was posted here

Comments welcomed :-)

Good health, everyone!

Incredible job Alan. I loved it. I'm a big fan of slideshows set to music as a way to present pictures. I really like the way that you mixed video in as well. I haven't really experimented with that yet. You have some great shots in there.

My favorite Disney shots aren't the glamorous, uber-artistic shots (although those are often really nice). My favorites are scenes of people, especially kids, enjoying themselves at the parks. Seeing your family having a wonderful trip is a delight. You really captured the feel of the trip well.

If I can make two suggestions, they are:

1) Use subtle cross dissolves between pictures rather than straight cuts. I like a roughly .5 to .9 second dissolve depending on the pace of my music and the spirit of the pictures. There's nothing wrong with straight cuts, but I have a personal preference for dissolves.

2) Why not use Disney music? I know that there are copyright issues involved, but I always figure that if it is for strictly personal use and I own the CD, its a reasonable use. Your musical selection is nice, but I think Disney music would fit the subject matter better.

Thank you for your comments, Mark - I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've enjoyed reading your video postings over the years, indeed they were one of the things that made me determined to have another shot at it :)

I did make a video much more in the way you described about my last Walt Disney World holiday - it's still online here

This time, however, I was deliberately going for something that felt more energetic, to try to represent the energy in the holiday. You never really get to pause at a WDW holiday, and the self-consciously abrupt changes between photographs were intended to reflect that.

Similarly for the music... the energy in the Prokofiev really gets me going, and that best reflected what I remember of the holiday.

Anyway, thank you once again for your comments - they are very much appreciated :)

Thank you - it was great fun to make. Almost as much fun as the holiday (but not quite!)
