I've been obsessing over all this info regarding codes and coupons and have done quite well getting my four day $126 rental with Thrifty down to my four day $73.78 rental with Alamo. I used the AMEX code as opposed to the WalMart code as it was cheaper and I prefer to let hubby do the driving anyways and I also used the $10 off weekend coupon code. I think I have made and cancelled 10 reservations since I started planning this trip! Now, even though I am thrilled with my results, I continue try each day to see if the rates drop and today while checking the rates I noticed the following:
You have entered a coupon that may be required to be presented at the time of rental. Please read the terms and conditions of the coupon before selecting your vehicle to ensure your coupon will apply to your reservation.
My first thought was, do I need to print out this coupon and bring it with me? I went back to the coupon and saw that it said e-coupon which first sort of answers my question for me but I decide to read the fine print to see if that gives me any info and upon doing that I read the following:
Rental must begin between 9:00 AM Thursday and 11:59 PM Saturday with an overnight Saturday keep required. Vehicle must be returned by Monday.
Well, I have my confirmed reservation and it says coupon accepted and the $10 has been subtracted from my total but my rental does not conform with the above policy. While I will be keeping the car over Saturday night and will be returning it by Monday, I will be picking the car up on Wednesday as opposed to Thursday. I would assume that since I don't meet the terms I shouldn't be able to use the coupon yet there it is on my reservation. I have already signed up for their loyalty program and registered DH's license info, etc... and had planned on checking in at the kiosk. Long story short, do you think I will have a problem? I don't even mind paying the extra $10 since I am still paying much less than my original agreement but I just want to get to the "magic" asap and don't want a hassle at the rental counter. Thanks for any advice!
