Alamo vs. Avis and double reservations

Hi-
I've been reading a lot of bad publicity on these boards about Alamo, and I guess I have 2 questions: 1) can you reserve with 2 companies
for the same date without any retribution? They have my name and e-mail address and that's it. And 2) Is the $34 total difference between Alamo and Avis - Alamo $118 / Avis $152 worth going to Avis? Thanks much!! And thankyou everyone who have raised the Alamo issues!!

I don't know of any car rental companies that charge for no-shows. So there shouldn't be any problems in having two different reservations.

Is the difference between Alamo and Avis worth it? It is for me.
