Wanted to post an update as there was some questions about using the Quick Silver membership for the first time. I made my reservation online and used a code and a coupon from the Ent book. I signed up for the QS membership and had never used it until I arrived in Orlando.

When our flight got in I decided to check the Alamo desk and found the lined was packed, I estimated at least 50 people in line as it snaked around a few times and some people were waiting in the main aisle too. No separate line for QS there.

Took my chances & headed over to the A side of the garage, went up to the Alamo kiosk and handed her my paperwork, I was done in about 2 minutes, walked over & picked out my vehicle (electric blue Pontiac Torrent) and drove out. I would have been in line for at least a 1/2 hour inside the terminal area. Drove around and stopped at the Airtran area, DH came out, and I went in to get the luggage off the belt since he's colorblind, lol! We were on our way in less than 20 mins or so from the time I got the car.

Drop off was a cinch, just be sure if you get a mid-size SUV to really top off your tank to the limit. We filled up at the Hess right by the Boardwalk and we were barely at full when we got to the airport.

HTH!

For us at Dollar it was like my first Fastpass of the trip . Sun early morning packed.I sent DW ,DD, & DM off on ME .Then me and DsF headed to the rental.

All the people standing in line watching me walk past them to the Express line and right to the counter.

One lady got so mad she was finally told by the manager to go down to the Alomo if she wants .

Did you have to sign anything since this was your first time using QS?

Thanks for the report. I'm in the same situation (except I think we are on the B side - Delta) and was wondering how it would work out.

Quick Silver with Alamo can literally save you an hour if you are a member. That goes the same for all of the other rental agencies. They all have a speedy type of membership. Most of them are free.

Do you have to put in a CC? I only have Debit cards here and that always was a problem with signing up for those.

I believe if you have an upgrade coupon you have to go tothe counter. If is a $ off coupon you can go to the QS checkout.

Can I use QS with a coupon then? I thought you couldn't?

I signed the original paperwork that the CS rep had me fill out in the booth (refusing addt'l ins, the gas thing, etc..) and showed the CC I wanted to use. I don't think I had to use a CC to sign up for the QS membership, but used my business name to get the card.

I went to the garage kiosk and it took only a couple of mins to have her print the info, sign the form and I was on my way to the aisle with the mid-size SUVs.

Again, not sure about the B side, but I would assume it would work the same way. I had a coupon for $$ off my rental and since this was the first time I was using my QS membership & had that coupon I didn't want to assume I could find a car, drive it to the check-out booth and then find out I needed to go back. Neither person (at the garage kiosk or the check-out booth) said that I shouldn't have done things differently so I guess I did it correctly.

Making sure that I'm being correct here, but QS is Quick Silver which is the Alamo business membership and I was never told that I couldn't use a coupon with it at all.

In June we had the same experience w/Alamo...

QS, coupon, garage check-in...out the door 10 min.

Only 2 issues:

1) res. mid-size SUV & had only 1, Saturn Vue on lot again. No matter when we arrive, the pickings for mid-size & SUV's are slim.

2) the credit card that they charged was an "old" one. I had updated the info in our profile several months before res. date but, they still charged the "outdated" info/card. Not a big deal but, we didn't bring that card with us...DH handled paperwork surprised there wasn't an issue. We did bring the "new" card we associated with this account.

keisha-I agree about the slim pickings. There was 1 Torrent (gold) being parked as I got into the blue one I picked. The other options were an Aztec or 2 Tracker (at least that's what they looked like) and a Liberty. I would say less than 1/3 of the row was set aside for that vehicle type.

Also, when I was at the garage counter, they were dealing with a mix-up resulting from overbooking, I guess. A customer had reserved an 8 passenger vehicle but they had none at either side of the terminal. They were working something out but had not figured out by the time I left.

So for QS you need to be a business?

We don't have a business. I wrote Alamo twice (just to double check and be sure) saying I'd like to join QS but the rental would be for leisure and I did not have my own business. They wrote me back and said I could join QS even though the rental was not business related.

We've had a SUV booked & were pointed to a PT Cruiser in the past...wouldn't even hold 2 large suitcases upright in back hatch area. Did get a very small refund after I contacted cust. service but, still...

Especially, if the res. is guaranteed w/credit card you'd think they'd allocate cars better.

Excellent advice! Our tank was a teensy bit below full (just as it was when we got the car) and we were charged $5 or $6 for gas. From now on we will fill up at the station to the right at the airport exit from 417, just to be sure.

I thought my husband signed up for quick silver, but never received anything in the mail. Did you receive a membership card from them? I rented the bigger SUV - trail blazer, we won't fit in anything smaller.
