Alamo *********** Question.

Is it true as a *********** member, at MCO, with an advanced reservation, you can go
straight out to the garage, pick a car, and go to the exit booth?
Has anyone done this recently?

Actually, Alamo's QS is not quite as good as that . . . but close. It's true you can go straight to the garage, but you must stop at the Alamo rental booth in the garage. Then, you go pick out your car. Since most people don't know to do this [of course all us dis'ers are on top of it] I have never had to wait yet. So it's like going straight to the front of the line.

National - Alamo's sister company - Emerald Membership allows you to go straight to the garage and pick out your car. No stopping whatsoever, except for the exit booth. I like that better, but still will use Alamo if the rate is even only $20 better. It's really not that big of a deal to stop at the rental booth.

Oh, and the reason QS will not show if you type it out, that was also the name of a transportation company that was banned from the Disboards.

So I don't have to stop at the self service kiosk inside the airport either? I can skip that step if I'm a QS member and have a reservation? I'm wondering if it still might be faster to get the paperwork at the kiosk if there's someone ahead of you at the Alamo desk out in the garage because there's always an open spot at one of the kiosks. I love avoiding the Alamo counter!

Right now my Alamo quote for early December is higher than Avis but I'm hoping it will come down so I can cancel Avis and go with Alamo. I love picking out the car I want instead of them assigning one to me.

If you're a QS member, there is no paperwork to fill out at the desk. When you joined QS, you filled out a master rental agreement that is kept on file by Alamo, thus you don't have to do any paperwork when you pick up a rental made under your QS ID.

You can do either the kiosk or the garage counter; there is no need to do both.

However, if you have any physical coupons to turn in, you will need to go to the garage counter, since you can't use the kiosk if you have physical coupons.

No, you would not stop at the self-service kiosk. I don't know if using the kiosk would be faster than using the outside rental booth because I have never used the kiosk. Also, remember you can't use certain coupons if you use the kiosk to check-in and that's not a problem at the garage rental booth.

I love picking out my own car, too.

I have used the kiosk a number of times, always VERY fast and easy, no more than a couple minutes. And I have used coupons at kiosk. Then walk to lot and pick car like National.

There is no limitation on using the kiosk and coupons together. You can't check in on-line if you are using a coupon but you can definitely check in at the kiosk with coupons.
