Thanks! My thinking was if I pre-paid I could lock in that rate (I'm not convinced my rate won't skyrocket before then) they gave me. I'm just being overly paranoid

You are locked in the minute you make the reservation, prepaid or not, in fact, you are a disadvantage if you do prepay and the rate goes down, not easily changed. If you see the rate has gone down, you can cancel the present reservation and rebook, but, rebook before you cancel the original ressie. Just in case.
Just print out your reservation and keep it with you when you check in, make sure the totals match BEFORE you leave the exit booth.
