Online Check-In allows you to complete your rental online, bypass the counter and choose your vehicle from the designated row of vehicles you have reserved.

Must meet minimum rental age requirements. Present an acceptable credit card with available credit, in your own name at the time of rental.

I was given this option when renting a Suburban or similar, what would the similar be, I am guessing this is like Nationals Emerald Aisle...

So what can I expect?

Is this basically the same as National Emerald Aisle. I have a minivan reserved for August. can I do this procedure mentioned by the OP.

You can use the online check in as long as you're not using a coupon. You can use the ID code but not a coupon. We've done it before and for us it was worth not using the coupon just to be able to go straight to the garage and pick up your car. You print off your paperwork at home and pass that, driver's license and credit card in at the exit booth.
It's different from the Emerald Aisle. The Emerald Aisle could have anything from mid size and up but with Alamo online check in you will go to the aisle that has all of the Suburban type vehicles and pick the one you want (keys are in them) or if you reserve a minivan the aisle that just has minivans.

Just a note on the aisles, some "aisles" are really small, as in you might have Premium, Luxury and Full Size SUV in the same row, but each section will have an "aisle" designation. Your selection in the higher classes is usually much more limited.
