Last December we booked an intermediate, and received a Chevy Prism. Due to flight delays we didn't get to MCO until midnight. We were too tired to argue. A Prism seemed small to us, but it did hold three people, and several large suitcases (trunk & backseat).

Banjo-

Please read the post labeled "Caution... Alamo don't rent from them." You will get more information as it regards to their intermediate car sizing. I bumped it so it would be back near the top of the listings... My own personal experience is posted in that thread... Hope this helps..

thanks to both of you for replying that is the post i had seen poohbear so ill check it again to update my memory as i can only remember the car size details on it. thanks again.

I have never had many problems with Alamo and when I did, they took care of it immediately.
They state that a mid size is a Grand Am or similar.
I booked for my friends recently for a full size and they ended up with a Camry and were very happy. It was a totally hassle free experience for them.
I have always ended up with the proper car for the class or an upgrade to the next size (without charge).
The fact that the parent company is in Chapter 11 really has no bearing on anything, it is business as usual at both National and Alamo.

We used Alamo in Phoenix recently, and reserved a midsize. The choice was between a Toyota Carolla and a Chevy Prism (they're the same car with different badging). We took the Carolla and were happy, but it is no mid-size. I'd hate to get a compact from them. You might have a choice between a rollerskate or a skateboard.
