Anyone hear about the Alamo counter opening with the hotel in June? I'm staying at DLH in September and would rather not walk to the Katella location

I tried to price this location for late June and it was not showing available. That doesn't really confirm it's not. But seems like they would want to start bookings, if planning to reopen? Hopefully an update soon.

Their Yelp page says July 16th. I also found a page for Enterprise at Paradise Pier that looks like it might be taking reservations.

I just checked and enterprise is taking reservations for September. Although to rent a car at Sna and drop at paradise pier for 2 hours it was $250. march of 2020 we were able to rent a one way drop off for $16 (total!) the gal at the counter was laughing at our price, we stopped and grabbed lunch before we dropped it off and was cheaper than an Uber. This year, not so much!

The $250 doesn't surprise me one bit. Rental prices are totally off the charts these days. My brother works for a major rental company and says that demand is waaayy outstripping supply. Over the course of the pandemic the major rental companies sold off close to 1/3 of their inventories plus a lot of cars they still have were moved offsite to storage facilities. Taking those cars out, servicing them, and moving them to various facilities is surprisingly expensive.

Oh I know, we went to Maui in May and totally understand all this! Luckily I booked a car 10 months before our trip and got it for $600 instead of $2k like many others!

I've even some people renting small UHaul moving vans/trucks to use as rental cars since it's cheaper. 😂
(although I'm sure UHaul and other rental companies have caught on by now)

That same thing happened when flights were halted due to an incoming hurricane a few years ago. In this case all the 'regular' cars were quickly taken by grounded passengers and people were renting moving vans & trucks to drive home instead of waiting out the storm.
