I've read some posts about how bad the lines at Alamo's counter can be, and how pushy the agents can be. Also, I know that you cant do online check in when using a coupon. I have a $25 coupon from the Ent Book. Do you think its worth it, or is the aggravation and waiting too much.

Your thoughts???

To me it is. I just got a rate of $74 for a midsize suv. Dec. 2-7 Can't beat it anywhere.
Another option is joining Q.uick Sil.ver. I'm thinking about it. I heard that line is usually much shorter.
Good luck! :)

if memory serves me correctly, when they changed the QS last year .....they made it "business" oriented and required you to have at least 5 rentals under your belt with alamo before you could apply....

not sure if those rules still apply

I went to WDW at the busiest time last year, used alamo, no problem. Small wait, not one word of selling me anything.. off I went, loved it!

We have seen long lines at both Alamo and National. Really seems to depend on what time your arrive. According to there web site you can not online check in if you are using a coupon. I got a quote this time and my reservation says I need to check in at the counter. Ended up getting a better price through National so I took that instead.

We are probably going to be arriving on a Friday night, around 9:00. Will the lines at the Alamo counter be long at that time?

DH just got a rate of 179.74 for 8 days (Jan 4th to 11th 2005) and that was with out the EB coupon (since it is Jan we haven't got a new book yet.)

They must be having a deal on midsize SUV's. You got a great deal. I think we might check again later. (and try to apply the coupon when we get a new EB.) :goodvibes

We normally rent from national. I have noticed the lines are shorter there. You pick from the same lot of cars. So if National had the same rate I would go there, but for as big of difference of this, I will risk the line at Alamo. We normally arive mid morning to noon. That is when we will get there this year too. (on friday.)

Good luck.

Just got back yesterday from Disney and rented a car at Alamo, MCO picked it up sun, Sept 24 @11am. We were the only ones in line. We had to go to the counter because we were using a coupon. Also, we usually split up, I wait for the luggage, while he goes downstairs for the car. Not sure if most people are doing the pay ahead to avoid the counter???

I also used the $25 coupon from entertainment book and the couponswas applied but when i read the coupon it states Sunday, Monday or Tuesday pick up does yours say the same :confused3 :confused3

What is the "pay ahead" to avoid the counter? Thanks!

On the Alamo website, you can do an on-line check in and pre-pay for your rental. You print your reciept and other pertinent info. When you arrive at MCO, you can walk right out to the vehicles and pick the one you want. I think they are arranged by class. The keys are in the vehicle and you drive to the check-out booth. You show them your paper work and you are on your way. I haven't done this yet, but I am planning on using this feature in December. Unfortunately, if you use a coupon (paper or internet) you can't use the on-line check in. I am plannin on foregoing the $15 e-coupon and bypassing the counter all together.

We are a BJ's member so we used one of those coupons. We got a midsize for 7+ days for $120 incl. all taxes and fees.
If you use a coupon you cannot do the pay ahead.

I also used Alamo this past week from Sept 24 thru oct 2nd. We arrived at 9am saturday morning and there were two people ahead of us. They took about 20 minutes before we go to the counter. It felt longer than 20 minutes but that's all it was. They didn't pressure me into using their ins. or anything. They did ask and as soon as I said no thanks they guy was fine. They gave us our paper work and off to the garage we went to pick out our SUV. We rented a standard size chevy trailblazer for $158.xx. We go to pick out the suv we wanted...there were about 4 of them to choose from. The one we wanted had its doors locked and we couldn't spot any workers walking near by so we chose the next one we liked. We got in drove up to their kiosk and gave him our paper work and off we went.I would use them again if there prices beat all the rest. I also used their $25 off coupon on their website.

juliette, you are absolutely correct. I missed that in the fine print. Thanks so much for pointing it out.

Looks like my only option is the $15 off since we really want to rent either an SUV or a convertible. I dont think the possible wait is worth it. I would rather pay ahead and go right to my car.

I printed the Ent coupon from the Ent site. My printed coupon does not say anything about picking the car up on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. My coupon ID is 7011339 and coupon code is D24C.

I think the restriction is only on the $25 off coupon. I checked all of the other EB paper coupons and they are either car class specific, or available for all.
