If you use the kiosk for Alamo, but have reserved a car seat, how do you get the car seat? Has anyone done this?

We've picked Alamo in part to save time and get on the road quickly. We're pre-entered all our info and stuff. Will having to get the car seat delay us significantly or require us to use the counter? Thanks in advance!

After you use the kiosk, you'll go out to the garage. At the Alamo/National area you'll find an office with windows and also several representatives outside ready to help people who are walking in to get cars. Show one your receipt to claim a seat - they are stored stacked up behind the office. I haven't personally done this, but I've seen it done. (and man, they must have had 30-40 car seats the day I got my car 2 weeks ago)

Excellent -- that sounds really easy. I guess it's not surprising that Disney would be the car seat capital for rentals. Thanks much.

Nice to hear it was easy. We are opting to take ours instead of renting one. What's the quality of the rental?

We actually had one with us too, because we had done some other travelling before getting to WDW. I got one through Alamo so that I could check all our luggage at the resort on departure day, including the car seat. It was kind of extravaggant -- $50 -- basically to not have to check the car seat when we got to the airport at MCO. But this allowed us to stay at WDW until as late as possible and then to just walk to the gate with our boarding passes. Not sure I'd spend the money again, but we got a great deal on the car through Alamo, so I figured with the total cost of the vacation, $50 to spend an extra hour or so at the end of our vacation seemed worth it. Not sure I'd do it again.

All in all, I have to give Alamo high marks in all regards. We booked several months ago through costco travel. We got a really good rate -- $170 for the week. Shortly thereafter, July rates went crazy and rates were up to $500 for a week, or $400 using codes including some iffy ones. Jet Blue changed our flight so that we were arriving 2 hours earlier than expected. When I tried to change our reservation on line, I got the $500 rate. I called Alamo and they were great about changing the time for me on the phone and keeping the original rate.

Check in was a breeze. I check in using the Kiosk after pre-filling in my info. It took about 2 minutes. Walked out to the garage and showed my receipt and the woman brought me to a room filled with car seats to choose. I got a booster (standard cosco) and then walked another 50 feet to the row of full size cars and picked one. (They were all basically the same -- pretty good nothing spectacular. Clean, comfortable. The fullsize category with Hertz tends to give me a bigger car, but these were all fine.)

Soft sell at the booth when driving out to pre-purchase fuel, but all in all it was about 10 minutes. It could have been 5 if we hadn't goofed around checking out all 10 or 15 of the full size options. Return was a snap. Took a minute. My wife took the magical express (we had tagged our bags) and checked in while I went to the grocery. From gate to resort was about 90 minutes, and our room was ready. Easy as pie.

That's good to hear that the rental with Alamo went good. I'll probably have the same issue as you did when trying to pick out a vehicle.

BTW do you get a chance to see what was in their lot for Full Size & Standard SUV's?

There were lots of SUVs there -- they all looked pretty large. Chevy and Ford. Not sure of the models. The SUV row to me looked like pretty much all the same kind of vehicle, just different colors.
