Has anyone ever dropped off their rental a day early? My car rate is accually cheaper if I rent for 9 days instead of 8:confused3 would they have something to say if I dropped it off a day early???

If it changes the rate then yes they would say something they would change the rate back to the 8 day.

Sometimes you can do it if it doesn't change the rate for example over 5 days but under 8 is $X., you originally rented for 7 days but now want 6 then they would probably be OK with it but if you changed it to 4 days they would charge you differently.

Yes, you can drop the car off anytime you want, but you will almost certainly be charged the 8-day rate. The rate you are shown when reserving is an estimate based on your arrival and departure time. If one of those changes, the rate will change. (If this worked, everyone would book cheaper weekly rates for trips of less than a week, for instance.)

I would be dropping it off 12 hrs early. In the past I have dropped off 3-4 hrs early but never 12 so I was just wondering... I guess I wont take the chance of them charging me more $$$

Why don't you call and ask? It really depends on whether that 12 hours has pushed you into or out of one of their 24 hour periods. They don't go by "days" they go by 24 hour periods. You may have squeaked by and will never know without asking.

thanks that a good idea I will call them. :)

I think you are okay as long as you dont drop it off more than 24 hours early. We had to drop a car off three days early due to having to cut a trip short and the fare went up about $50 when they printed our receipt. We went to the desk in the garage and explained why we had to return early (death in the family) and the agent changed the fare. Not sure they would do this if you provide an explanation that it was cheaper for you to book the 9 days instead of 8 though.
