ALAMO at MCO-- BAD EXPIERENCE!!

Alamo may have said they were on site because the sign up and reservation counter was in the airport terminal.

I have dealt with (rinky dink) car rental agencies (not at MCO) where the first thing I do is take their shuttle or a shared shuttle, and even the paperwork was done at the off site office

Admittedly there is some advertising fluff about saying they were on site when only part of their operation (the counter) was on site.

There are gas stations within reasonable distance of the airport. On you way back to MCO, if you use I-4 to 528 (the Bee Line) get off 528 at exit 9 Tradesport, left under 528 and there is a reasonably low price gas station there. When done, don't get back on 528 but instead stay on that side of 528 taking paralleling McCoy Rd, becomes Frontage Rd, about a mile is Semoran Blvd and the north airport entrance.

Seems like the definition of "on site" can be interpreted various ways. It reminds me of the Wisconsin Dells vacation area, where "Near the water park!" can mean anything from walking distance to several miles.
When you pick "MCO" via Priceline, you can end up with Hertz, which requires a shuttle bus and which does the paperwork at the offsite location. That has only happened to us once, although I must say I was quite pleased as the upgrade from ecomony to a RAV4 made the bus ride well worth it!
I have gotten Alamo via Priceline a lot, although never when they were offsite. Typically it seems to be them or Avis...we've got Alamo again this weekend, so I'll post a report on whether they're behaving themselves!
And Gail, I still love ya! ;)

HAHA!!!! Ain't that the truth!!!!!!! And trying to get from one end of that million miles of motels to the other in the Dells is like trying to get from Disneyworld to WalMart on 192~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~:(

About 10 years ago I had a simular experience at the ALamo in Atlanta. (Acutually it was even worse, but I will spare you the details) Because of that I have NEVER rented from them again. It only took once for me to decide NO WAY. I was really worried bout the National merger, but since I have only used EA so far so good....

Carol, I had a HORRIBLE experience at Alamo in Atlanta about 10 years back too. I don't remember the exact year, it was a few months after the Olympics were hosted there. It was SOOO bad I have never rented from them again either. I wonder if we were in the same 3 hour line that day? ;)

Could have been. My favorite part of that adventure was once I finally cleared the line I was told it would be at LEAST a one hour wait for a car. They were just giving out contracts to move the line. I told them to cancel me and walked. Next month there is a charge on my credit card for a "cancelled reservation". Diners Club took care of it for me, but.... once was enough. There was more the adventure (they refused to transport me back to the terminal since I did not rent a car, etc....)
