I have rented many times from National, am an emerald club member and have never worried about a thing. Everything goes smoothly.
This trip I went with Alamo due to the great rate I secured back in February from a posting here on the boards. I prepayed for an SUV with a great rate of 127.75 for a week.
I did join the QS program after the fact but they are unable to add the number to my reservation because they say I will lose my rate.
My flight was originally scheduled to land at 9:00am so I had a pickup time of 9:30am. Delta delayed my flight and I will not pick up the SUV until 12Noon.
Do you think they will try to mess with my rate? I have heard others post that the counter said their rate did not apply because they did not pick up the car at the stated time. I hate hassles on my vacation. Looking for recent experiences.....

I would go to the Alamo site and modify your reservation. Put in the new time and go to the next screen. It will tell you if there is a change in price. I have done it before with no change. I have a National reservation now , which I just tried to modify, with no change in price. You go all the way to the last screen where it will ask if you want to keep the modified reservation, and it tell's you the price. Good luck.

I would call Alamo and double check, but when we had this happen this past December, I called and they told me that as long as I pick up my vehcile within 24 hours they would honor my rate. No need to rebook, that will more than likely change your rate.

Yup. I've been up to 5 hours late and never had a problem with Alamo honoring the rate.

Thanks for your replies. I had read some posts here on the boards concerning Alamo and poor customer service. Of course, if I encounter any problems, I will let you guys on the boards know. Have a great day! :)

It all depends on the tems and conditions but unless rules are otherwise stated, the company must choose between honoring your reservation and rate (if you are two hours late your last day ends after 22 hours instead of 24 hours or if you are a day late you pay the same total dollars for what time remains) or refunding all of your money.

When a rental company asks for a flight number it is reasonable to expect they will hold the car with no added surcharges or conditions or required insurance purchases until that flight arrives.
