which aladdin show is a must see?
the one at DCA or the one at DL?

what are the differences?

thanks in advance!!:cool1:

CA. Big difference...

Hope some one has the time to chime in.

Jack

Really different....the one in CA is more of a Broadway play! It's excellent! Truly one not to miss.

The one is DL is more interactive with kids. Kids participate on stage. A shortened version. Years ago you could stay after and get Aladdin and Jasmines' autograph, I don't know if they still do that or not.

Both worth seeing...

DCA. It's a 45 minute onstage musical, kind of a condensed version of the Disney movie. It's in the beautiful Hyperion theatre in Hollywood Backlot. There are some special effects that are amazing. Best of all is the Genie! He is a scream. It's been said that this show alone is just about worth the price of admission to DCA. Not to be missed!

Aladdin and Jasmine's Storytime Adventure is a cute little meet n'greet storytelling time in Aladdin's oasis in Adventureland, an open air walk-up area. Very different.

Hope that helps!

We go to the Aladdin show at DCA at least twice every trip. And everytime it is different. We've seen different actor's playing the genie and it makes for a different show. Over the years the jokes change and reflect what is going on in the world. This show alone has peaked my sons' interest in Broadway and we've now seen many musicals together as a family. This is our #1 Don't Miss of all Disney attractions whether cruising, WDW or DL.

A side note: I know there are many others as nutty about this show as we are. In 2005 we had preferred seating passes and got into the theater with the first 25 people or so. We got seats in the first row....but not together. We asked a lady if she would scoot over one seat. She adamantly said "No!" and proceeded to explain that she had sat in that seat 200 times (I don't know what the number was ... I just remember it was an amazing number). Looking back it was funny and I wish I had the time to watch it that many times....

Another side note: we've enjoyed every seat we've ever had in that theater. We've sat in the first row (more than once), back a few rows, middle of the mezzanine, and a few rows from the top. All were great and gave a different perspective of a great show. You know it has to be good to run this long. Don't worry about where you are sitting...just go to the show!!

DCA is a must every trip. Big Broadway-type musical.

DL, for us, was a one time thing. It's more of a story time with kids participating. As of Nov. 06, they still did the signing/pics afterward - but the whole family had to go at once, no individual kids - most likely to get everyone through quickly.

Oh, yeah, current wisdom says, when you go to the Aladdin in DCA, try to get seats on the first row of the mezzanine level (first balcony). Not to spoil the show, but they're a better view for a couple of special effects. If you have one of those "preferred seating" passes that come with packages-- it says you get orchestra (floor) seating-- but somebody else on here says you can go on up to the mezzanine. We sat 7th row center but I sort of wished we'd known about the mezz.

We always sit right up front. LOVE the view and the interaction we get. A close look inside a treasure chest, a camel trying to eat DD's head, etc. You can always look up and back and around to see everything else.

Someday we might sit up there, but it'll be tough to tear my kids away from the front row!

haven't been to the one at DL, but the one at CA was hilarious! i would go again just to watch the genie! :rotfl2:

The DCA show is amazing. We saw it twice last we were there. The first time we had seating at the top (balcony) and the second we sat on the lower level (orchestra). I really see benefits to seating at either level. From the top the stage is a bit distant and some of the lower effects aren't so dramatic, but anything high ;) is so much better. However, you'll miss one small part of the show from up there.

Seating at the lower level brings you closer to the stage, but those higher things :x just aren't so impressive. But you catch the part missed from balcony.

Mezzanine (middle level) may be a good compromise, especially right up front. We'll have to shoot for that next we go.

Oh, and my kids (2 and 4) absolutely love this show.

While I loved the CA show, I don't think its something I need to see again. Everyone should see it at least once, though and form their own opinion. I think my problem is it doesn't quite work with our commando style park touring! I feel like I'm missing something sitting there for that long!

Now the DL however my kids would never forgive me if we didn't go at least once every trip! They love the interaction.

My family loves both shows. If it is your first time seeing the Aladdin show in CA... then you should definitely see it. My DD5 and DS3 love the Aladdin show in DL because it is really geared towards kids. They get to sit up front and the characters call on volunteers from the audience to participate in the story. Very cute.

We'll definately go to see both shows when we visit DL for the first time next month. DD6 would love the interactive storytelling show and the whole family can relax, have a comfy chair and enjoy the show at DCA. :goodvibes
